'06 V8V - Engine tick?? (vid) - Shims/Injectors/Worse?

Hey guys,

I've had the V8V for a couple months now. Been dialing in a tune to remove all the factory limitations but also to get the throttle response to be more acceptable. With a custom accelerator pedal it's now actually pretty fun to drive.

I've got chirp which I assume is the belt (will switch for newer 4.7 hardware soon) and am not concerned about, but today noticed a ticking sound at idle. I've uploaded a vid here:

Anyone got thoughts as to whether this is just the notoriously noisy injectors or if it could be the dreaded tapper shim tick? If it is shims then it doesn't sound bad to the point where they're too out of spec but any help will be welcomed! The car has done 28k miles.

Thanks!

From what I can hear that sounds like the injectors.
I can't hear any mechanical steel-steel tapping noise.

I have some mechanical tapping in my 4.3 that is at around half engine rpm frequency, but it aint the valves. Yours sound better.

Thanks. I'm hoping this is the case. Are you worried about yours at all? Is it enough to need a fix??

To be honest, yes I worry alot! But the sound is not from the valves, I removed the covers and measured them all and could not find anything out of tolerance.
It's coming from somewhere else and it's not from anything moving at engine rpm. It's not load dependant either, always the same volume so to speak, and have not become worse with time.

I'm leaning towards broken valve spring but have no idea how to check that easily, and will not spend 10 grand to have someone remove the cams to have a look. The car is not worth it in my eyes unfortunatly.

I will take it to my shop in a couple of weeks and see what I can do myself. Need to tear down the gearbox and torquetube to change the clutch too.
