2019+ Lost sound and infotainment screen

Today I was driving along after being on the road for at least 20 minutes and suddenly, the sound system went silent. I tried making sure mute was off, etc. I turned off the screen and tried to turn it back on
and nada, no screen now. The rear camera works as it should but once going forward, I have a blank screen and again no audio. I did lock the car and tried a couple of hours later, still nothing.

The car starts immediately so I do not suspect a bad battery unless this is like smoke signal from the battery saying I am soon leaving you. Any experience out there to share??

Thanks

Hi @Stwsam,

Probably an easy answer, but probably good to start with the simple stuff like fuses, then go from there. Usually, even with a weaker battery, once started and running, accessories like infotainment should not be impacted.

Hope it is simple for you!.....

On my RS6 and my new Defender I can "reboot" the infotainment system by holding the on/off button down until it reboots (about 10-20 seconds). Not sure if it's possible on the Vantage so just throwing it out there.

Did you call the dealership? Ask the Service manager before driving down there. Sounds like a fuse.

I did. He could only suggest the same. I tried the multimedia fuse which is good. Trying to other applicable fuses. Only other I can think of is amplifier. Will check that today

On my new Defender I keep a 10mm wrench in there truck on the chance I need to reboot the entire thing - just disconnect the negative on the battery for a few minutes.... Not sure if that's an option

In an update, I spoke to an Aston associate today who works for corporate, not a dealer. He advised me that I was describing a classic problem they have had with some center stacks and it would likely have to be replaced or at a minimum a software upgrade.

On the chance it was the fuse I pulled the 15 amp center stack fuse I-13. The fuse was good and I put it back. The car did not like that as I now have no cameras nor can I shut off start stop or use any of the center controls short is transmission buttons. Off to the shop it goes!

Put a scanner on it... That infotainment system is fairly old...

Its not the battery. Did you have BT connected from your phone? Are you in a hot climate?

FYI...

You have to tear the whole console down to get to the head unit... Its sits behind the transmission buttons...

The screen is an easy R/R... but its not the screen.. Its just a simple monitor.. Most likely the Head unit needs to be replaced and thats a 5 hr job... AM WSM...

Press them to R/R head unit...

In an update, my car has been at Aston Summit NJ for three weeks. Original diagnosis was a faulty center stack. That was replaced but no joy. At this point they have no clear direction but to explore modules and harness. They are most responsive and keep me updated but we seem to be in some deep water at the moment.
