This afternoon, I had the chance to stop by the new "Q New York" flagship store in NYC.
They have the only DB12 in North America, a Valkyrie and a 2022 F1 car painted in the 2023 livery. There's also a fascinating configurator on a wall-sized screen that's reactive to different paint and fabric samples that are placed on a central table.
Beautiful space. Hope to see more interesting vehicles there in the future.
My impressions of the DB12 are.... WOW. It has dramatically more presence than the DB11, which is difficult to do. There's just something "right" about the DB12. Not a bad angle. There's a bit of Gen-1 Vanquish in the front end, which is great. You also don't notice the lack of clamshell.
The interior is also a dramatic improvement over any current-generation Astons. It's Bentley-like in its layout. It's also timeless—definitely worthy of a grand tourer and the Aston Martin name.
Only two things I didn't like: the side mirrors and the paddle shifters. The DB11 side mirror design was just more elegant. Also, I'm not a fan of wheel-mounted paddle shifters (versus column-mounted as in most VH-platform Astons). If they're not going to put a manual in them, at least put a proper column-mounted paddle as is expected in a legitimate performance vehicle. I want to know where my up and down shifts are at all times—which is difficult to do when they're spinning with the wheel.
@1stV8V, you beat me to it! My office is close to the showroom and I hope to swing by during lunch next week to check out the DB12 in person. Here's the write up in the local paper.

Can't wait to pick one up used in 10 years .
I think the proportions are just right. Just not a fan of the huge scoops on the outboard front bumper. The single grill works better with the larger headlights than on the vantage...
Yes. Count me in on one in 10 years and I'll add to my current Vantage and the DBX I hope to purchase used in 5 years. Ha ha ha!
Yep saw the DB12 at AM Newport yesterday. The interior is what I think made the most impact followed by the more aggressive facade. Can't believe I am saying this...but the wood trim is gorgeous.
That said, a car that is supposed to get consumers to spend $300k+, they could at least make everything a little more proper and complete. Even as a prototype. Panel gaps inconsistencies (why aston?), door panel on the passenger side has a fitment issue and the rather 'sparse' and untidy engine bay, which I am sure will be cleaned up.
