DB9 AM11 V12 detailed info needed

Is anyone here packed with technical knowledge on the DB9 AM11 V12s? I’m using one for a stand-alone build and I need to answer 2 questions that I haven’t been able to find info on:

1. What sort of sensor(s) does it use to trigger the ignition? Variable reluctor (magnetic pickup)? Optical? Hall effect? Old fashioned mechanical breaker points? Are the sensors triggered by trigger wheels on the crankshaft / flywheel, distributor / cam, or both?

2. How many teeth / windows / slots and are on the crank or distributor trigger wheel? How are they arranged? (Equally spaced, missing teeth gaps, etc)

I’ve googled this to death and haven’t found any info. I guess there’s not a lot of people out there using AM motors in crazy swaps 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi @SinisterSF ,

Wish I could help. I am less than two months into my DB11 V12 and haven't acquired this level info on a very tough manufacturer to deal with regarding parts and operations. Too bad as I think that is one thing that works against AM a little.

I've seen pics of the crankshaft. I didn't see a reluctor wheel on it but that does not make it definitive. Somehow the ECM needs to know where cyl one is.

In one year, hard to do or not, I'll know a lot about this motor. It's my hobby and I can be relentless finding things. Hope you stay in touch here. Share what you find out and I promise to do same.

Try Mike at Bamford Rose. He use to be a power train engineer for Aston Martin. If anyone would know it’s him.

Not sure this helps but I believe the 2012 was an AM11
