2010 Vantage coupe V8 battery swap
1. Whomever engineered those two sliding brackets in the bottom rail to be too long to slide left and remove deserves a special place in hell.
It would have taken nothing to make them smaller or not run the rail itself so far left. There already is the additional strap on top also holding it down.
2. Here is a tip. Don’t get so consumed and pissed at #1 that you lose focus and install the new battery backwards. I got it all back together and went to connect the terminals and realized negative post was on left. Wtf.

oh I can tell you all about that damn vent tube. When I had to reinstall the battery to swap it around I pulled the tube out of the floor hole. That was a pain in the *** to get back in the hole. Eventually got it with a long needle nose plier set.
That tube is a pain for sure. My fix was inserting a thin but stiff straight wire up thru the bottom with the tube on it. It needs to extend nearly at the top of the battery. ( short hoses are a real problem) The wire should not be sticking out of the top of the rubber tube. If it is, the plastic elbow might not fit into the tube. This depend on the elbow and the size of wire your using.
Make sure to tape the wire and hose together where they are sticking down & out of the rubber tube vent hole under the car. Once the battery is in place connect the rubber tube to the plastic elbow inserted into the battery vent. Cut the tape thats holding the wire and rubber hose together.....and gently remove the stiff wire from the bottom of the vent hose. Yes it's easier with 2 people but 1 person can get it done with improvising something to hold the hose and wire at the point it extends down thru the flood pan.
NOTE: If the wire doesn't come out easily the hose is most likely pinched. I've heard of rubber hoses that only extend 1/4 inch below the floor pan. If you have that really short hose you might consider taking the hose to the auto store and replacing it with "exactly" the same diameter hose but a few inches longer. You can cut off what you don't need/want after it's installed.
