I've got them in hand, and I can see few reasons why they would need to go back. They are simple in design. Plus, if there is a problem, I'll just eat it and toss it up to a "life experience".

The codes are all listed above. I don't know what codes they applied, but I paid $84.75. On top of that, UPS charged me a broker fee of about $26, with the total fee being $110.75.

I have no clue how they calculated the $84.75, but at that point I was just happy to get rid of the $1178 tariff that they wanted.

I swear they're just making the numbers up based on what I've paid for other deliveries from the UK recently.

Did you end up being able to pay the $84 and get your shift cables?

My order from Valiant Ecosse hasn't shipped yet, but fortunately Alister is using DHL for this one. DHL seems to be doing better than other shippers right now. Really hope they can do better on this because the same punitive tariff on my order would be massive and I'd really prefer not to lose the $500 in shipping costs if I have to refuse the shipment.

They are not making the numbers up but that they are using some sort of rules-based decision making software, which is leading to inaccuracies and pure chaos.

I did pay my $84, and I have the product in hand. Alister had to push at his end too, which was very helpful. I have only good things to say about working with him.

Glad Alister was able to help you out, he really is one of the best out there. Hopefully this hasn't been too much of a headache on his end as well.

Yea. I feel bad for him. I deliberately chose not to mention his business because this wasn't his fault. Others chose to put it out there. I'll be using him again for other stuff that I'm looking to have done on my car.

I ordered boot lift struts from Ebay for my V8VS which were listed as $40 each, so total order value was $90 including shipping.

Arrived and then i see I got charged an EXTRA $86 dollars in "import tariffs" and "import fees".

That means I was charged 107% of the item value for imports. Ebay have been complete c#nts about it, and are refusing to give me a breakdown, at first referring me to Pitney bowes (who handles shipping for them) but I epxlained there is nothing customer facing with pitney Bowes and their official advice is to contact ebay for any shipping queiries.

Then ebay told me that's just what the charges are, and when I told that car parts form the UK have an import duty of only 2.5% they transferred me to someone senior.....

who told me to take it up with pitney bowes.

It's robbery. The charges are completely arbitrary.

I'm basically not ordering anything at the moment.

You should be able to find those in the US. Try O'Gara Aston Martin.

Too late sadly. I bought them from aston martin spares on Ebay becuase they were "only" $40 each and I figured with 2.5% import and shipping they' would work out about 40% cheaper than trying to source in the usa. They ended up being about 10% more expensive than getting reamed by O'Gara.

I'm too gun shy to order overseas since the tariffs. Scuderia will give you an "all in" price when you order and maybe even some discount if you ask. I've had good luck with them in the past

The tariffs are a pain, but for me it's still preferable to working with US dealers. Guess everyone's preferences may be different there. Last part I ordered I ended up buying through Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell, still cheaper than the US even with tariffs/international shipping and infinitely better customer service. I'm sure this varies depending on what part you're looking at though.
