Update on this. I took the Vantage to my mechanic on Friday to have the dampers installed. A few hours after dropping it off I get a voicemail "We have an update on your car". Uh oh. Turns out the dampers didn't fit. Fortunately Alister at VE quickly responded to an email, and the "fix" for my 07 is to drill the top mounts out to 12mm from 10mm. My mechanic confirmed that did the trick, and I hope to pick up the car on Monday and report on how it feels. I'll be keeping it at stock height - I have no desire to start to have to worry about low curbs etc.

How to tell if you need new dampers…

What was the ride like with the old dampers? I have a 2006 v8V with about 20 miles. My mechanic told me the dampers were leaking. When I hit a bump in the road I can really feel it; it feels pretty harsh. So, I am guessing I need new dampers. I really would like the ride to be more comfortable. When I am on a smooth surface, the ride is great. But when I run over a bump it is pretty rough…

Watching this thread with great interest.

Thanks

@SLVRon—-checking in on the new dampers. Have you picked up the car yet and, if so, what do you think? Also, see my question above. BTW my car has 20K miles (not 20 miles). Looking forward to your input.

Thanks

Chat GPT advice

Chat GPT recommends Bilstein B4 to provide a more comfortable ride and preserve stock height. So, in addition to the input requested above, I am curious if anyone has tried the Bilstein B4.

Thanks

@Skidog214 The dampers are now installed and I've had a chance to put a few miles on them. If you have a 4.3 I'd say this is a must-have upgrade. They're based on the 4.7 sport setup, so you still feel the road imperfections. The difference with these dampers is that those imperfections no longer impact the driving experience - in other words you are more isolated from them. So check for the 'more comfortable' goal. Also, body roll is much reduced, meaning you can drive the car harder when the opportunity arises.

The car never felt like it could be used on track, but now it does. Without the compromised ride that often comes with a track car.

@SLVRon—-thanks! How about the ride height—is it same as stock?
My vehicle is a 2006 4.3, so this sounds great.

Thanks again

I kept the ride height the same as stock, yes. I have no desire to start worrying about scraping the front end

in my experience BCR coilovers on my 4.3 V8V had a ridiculously bouncy ride, maybe it was setup incorrectly (doubtful, I trust my suspension tech). Perhaps it's better on swift springs

That's what I was always afraid of with coilovers.
