Big Sur in the DB9 - Road Trip!

Happy Holidays -

Just got back a few hours ago from an incredible road trip in the DB9!

Took a trip up to Big Sur in the DB9 with my father. Truly the most beautiful place on earth.

Had a great time! Stayed at Ventana, incredible dinner at Big Sur Bakery (with a Big Sur local, friends with my father - who has lived there for 40 years and in that time period he has never watched television, seen a movie, used a computer - or been on the internet, or been out of Big Sur - a fascinating conversation and a story for another time), soaked in natural geothermal hot springs in the cliffs overlooking the ocean and got incredible massages at Eslalen Institute (one of the top soaking locations in the world, see the pics) ...

Stopped in Paso Robles on the way down, did the 'Sideways' Pinot Noir thing - got some great wine, had incredible BBQ steaks & Pinot at 'The Hitching Post II' in Buellton and some tasty breakfast this morning (danish pancake style) in Solvang. Cruised the scenic route the entire way down back into Malibu just in time for lunch and a car wash to get the bugs off her.

Car held up excellent - drank lots of fuel, no problems at all (except for a small hole in my windshield when some gravel on the highway flew up into the window) ... and no speeding tickets thanks to the Valentine One (saved my *** a few times). We even got to store over 24 bottles of wine purchased in various nooks and crannys of the car along with our luggage. Only wish it had an iPod connector, and it would be perfect! No complaints -

Life is Good! Happy Holidays!

Not a house but that is probably the best spot on the planet to get a massage and soak in natural geo-thermal soaking tubs over the ocean while the waves break on the rocks below you. I kid you not. The BEST spot on the planet. Words and photos cannot describe how amazing it is on a visceral and experiential level.

It is a part of the Esalen Institute and is designed by the most famous Big Sur architect, Mickey Muennig.
