B7 2.0T quattro or B5 S4 ??
There's someone in Fullerton who switched from a B7 A4 to a B5 S4. So he could probably give you pros/cons on both cars. He's not on this board but I can give you his email address if you want.
I own a B7 S4 and have driven a B5 S4 and many, many B7 2.0T loaners. From my experience, the B5 is definitely a fun car, the 2.0T, not as much fun but surprisingly fun for what it is. If you don't care about modern creature comforts and this is strictly your "fun car", I say go with a low mileage B5 S4, if you really care about all the bells and whistles, go for the 2.0T, it is still pretty fun. As for the mods aspect of it, they are both turbo engines so they have a lot of potential and possibilities. The S4 is obviously going to have more but the 2.0T is still very tunable. You can't lose either way, they are both great cars, I guess it just comes down to personal preference.

true, but this is going to be for *tuning*, so turbos would be yanked anyways. Just trying to get a direction on what would be a better way to go in terms of marketing for our company, we've been tuing Japanese high end and Porsche for over 13 years, and now it's time for a change and new challenge.

in that case. get a b5 s4. swap the turbos and change the internals. the b7 is nice but tuning the twin turbo would be so fun
agreed, but the B5 is a bit old, and not sure how many guys are left wanting to *tune* the old S4, this is more of a business decision rather than a *fun* decision.
I've got 2 friends here in Modesto who have/had 2.0T VW's, both did the Chip Upgrade (Neuspeed & Revo) along with the Downpipe = 265hp.
One added a FMIC & a Filter and had over 300lbs of Torque.
Those are fun little Motors.
