I totally agree with rodney3211 for DD it's the S6. Fit, finish, and AWD puts it way a head of the M5 in every way except all out performance. And as a DD with the family I am pretty sure you won't need the extra performance and lack of traction a modded M5 would offer; JMHO. As GT3Ranger said "to each his own".

Dont get me wrong the M5 is a great performance car but the S6 is the better all around car. I am also not found of the 5 series styling. I think the S6 has a beautiful interior which the M5 imo doesn't have. The S6 runs a 13.0-13.20 quarter mile while the M5 runs a 12.80-13.00 Stock. The M5 is faster but remember the S6 is compared to the 550xi not the M5. The 580hp RS6 is the M5's class.

I agree the M5 is a great performer, although I don't love the look.

Up there in the Pac NW, AWD is increasingly a necessity. We seem to be getting more snow / ice each winter and I've seen many a RWD BMW spin out or immobilized on the side of the road.

That's why I have the 996 C4S now. It's a champ with Blizzaks on.

Bought the S6 today!

Well, after a quick round of negotiation, I pulled the trigger on a Brillant Black over Ebony '07 S6 today with 8k on the clock. Car is CPO, with AudiCare, Tech pkg, Audi Music Interface, leather dash, heated rear sets. It also came with a nearly new set of Blizzak winter tires the prior owner turned in with the car...very handy here in the Seattle area

Anyway, i'm fired up...car is being detailed and i'll be picking it up tomorrow.

I sold my '04 996 C4S pretty quickly (one ad in the PCA Mart)...seems like everything just lined up on this one.

I'll be posting more soon (some pix, too!).
