What's the wait time now to order an R8??
They sold at 70k over in December just hang tight for another couple months and they will drop to 10 to 15k over msrp and by the end of the year I see MSRP.
Audi has never officialy announce production numbers which makes me thing that they will start mass producing the V8 version in 2009 and keep the v12 or v10 limited. Mass produce I mean 2 to 4k cars a year

Your dreaming if you think that the secondary market for the R8 will be MSRP. The only way you will buy an R8 for MSRP is to order and wait through an authorized Audi Certified Sales dealer who writes the order and provides the price at order. I fully expect to see pre-owned R8 units with 12K miles selling $10K (or more) above MSRP and 24K miles selling at or slightly above original MSRP. The R8 is hot, getting hotter as we get closer to spring & summer and will remain hot due to limited availability.

There has NEVER been an R8, other than charity auction cars, that has ever sold for $70K over MSRP! Current secondary market is and has held at $25K to $35K over and may go up some as we come into prime sports car season.

Audi has repeatedly published very accurate production numbers for the R8. It is widely known that the factory capacity is 20 units per day. It has been widely reported that the CY 2007 allocation for the US was 300 total units and that number has been validated by the R8 Registry as of 012/07/08 (http://webpages.charter.net/parkhill/R8/R8_VIN_List.htm) showing some 35 or more of the total CY 350 units as Audi corporate cars. There is not now or is there to be any reduction in unit build, however as the V-10 comes on line in mid to late CY 2009 there will be fewer V-8 units. The V-12 TDI is not even a glimmer at this point and absolutely no commitment to production has been given to the V-12 TDI which was shown as a "CONCEPT" and exists in the Audi product planning as a concept. The US allocation of R8 V-8 units for CY 2008 has been quoted to be in the 800 unit range.

I am getting a R8 so im not **** talking but really nothign that special about the car to keep selling at 150k. It will go down to MSRP its just a matter of time.
A very simple question - Why would anyone who feels the R8 is "really nothign special" even bother to buy one? Clearly, being declared as the "Automobile of the Year" and "Sports Car of the Year" by at least four internationlal publications is somthing special! I am confident that if the R8 had a bull or pranching horse on the hood inlieu of the four rings, the price would be $100K more. My prediction is that you won't see NEW R8's selling at MSRP in the secondary market until at least 2009 or 2010.

It is for sure the automobile of the year for 125-135k but not for 160-170k. The reason I am getting it is becouse it has the gadgets like SD card bang olsen sound, headed seats, nav, satelite radio, rear camera sensors etc etc that the cars I had in the past did not offer and nor do the Lambo offer from my understanding.
The Lambo G is prity much a R8 and yes if the R8 had Ferrari or Lambo on it they could ask 180 for it but, it does not and the reason is that its not much faster if it is at all then the 997s that cost 90k.
It is blatantly obvious that you don't understand or appreciate the pedigree of the Audi R8. The 997 C2S or C4S is no match, in any category, for the R8. The only Porsche that will best the R8 is the Turbo and then only in a straight line. Even the GT3 is, at best, a draw to the R8 and most journalists state that it is the lesser vehicle when compared to the R8.
Again, I ask why you would buy a car you are not absolutely in love with? Is it simply to impress others? If so, then buy a ZR1 which is faster, costs less and will impress those who are less sophisticated.
It would be impossible to drive a Lambo G on a daily basis, which by the way possesses less than 15% of the R8 DNA. The Lambo fuel consumption in addition to maintenance and repair would require even a well heeled individual to take a second job to cover the associated costs.
The single biggest ownership advantage of the R8, besides exclusivity, is going to be retained value. The R8 is a true daily and will not suffer mileage depreciation to the degree a Lambo or F-car does if driven. Purchased as a certified resale, the R8 will have a 7 year, 100K warranty. Try to touch that with a Lambo or F-car, not a chance.

The magazines like the R8 due to its usability and drivability. It's easy to drive every day and push, much like an M3.
But show me where the R8 is a superior PERFORMER to the GT3 or even the Turbo. I like the R8, but it is hardly superior to a GT3 on the track.
I can't wait to eat R8's for lunch with my 997 GT2... V-8 or V-10.
I was told there are more orders then cars for the V8 version. I am number one in line for the new V12. Those waiting for their V8's are being told 12-18 months. I can not understand why you would want the V8, it makes no sense!
You could go used or pay the premium. I will not pay a premium for a car, ever!
I just placed an order for an A8 and it is 90-120 days.
If you want an R8 now, you will pay!
My advice is buy a couple Audi's from a trusted dealer and they will then offer you the new R8.
I leased my RS4 knowing the time to take delivery of the new R8 would be 3 years to the day. I have had my Rs4 for just about a year. 2 years and counting!
If the R8 should deliver early they will take me out of my lease.
I think I am going to keep the RS as my winter car. It has been too much fun!
