The magazines like the R8 due to its usability and drivability. It's easy to drive every day and push, much like an M3.

But show me where the R8 is a superior PERFORMER to the GT3 or even the Turbo. I like the R8, but it is hardly superior to a GT3 on the track.

I can't wait to eat R8's for lunch with my 997 GT2... V-8 or V-10.
The TT is by far a superior car. The V12 will be a different story as well as the engine change in Porsche.

Agreed. Although the draw for me is a beautiful well balanced mid engined car. I'm not very concerned with full out straight line speed. More importantly, what would the used market look like 5 years down the road from now(yes I Know, long term).

I'm sure hoping that the V10 prices drive the V8's down enough so that a 4-5 year old example may be in the 70k range by that time. I'm not familiar enough with audi's depreciation curves to make a judgment though (although I hear they're not the best).

I am licking my chops at the thought of $60-70k R8's, Aston V8's, Maserati Gran Turismos in the next 2-3 years. Also, how about a $100k Gallardo or 360 spider!

Yeah, I would imagine they might start hitting F355-ish prices in the next few years!

You know why Aston's, Maserati's, Ranger Rover's and Lambo's don't hold their value? because you need to own 2, one to drive while the other is in the shop

It is all about production numbers!
If you would have said the new Challenger I would have agreed with you
I think you can buy Lance Briggs Lambo for cheap if you own a flat bed

The production of the R8 is extremely limited and it is doubtful that supply will exceed demand in the near future. I would venture to say that a used R8 will still be selling around MSRP one year from now.

You may be correct, but Audi Financial is not so optimistic

Yup, I've seen those numbers. I think that those were determined much earlier than the release of the vehicle, so they had nothing to base it on, other than previous Audis. However, there is no other Audi that would make a good comparison to the R8.

I also think that these numbers are highly discouraging for potential lessees. You can do it, but it's going to cost a pretty penny.

major dealer up in Metro NY area indicated they had 22 deposits on the R8...putting them 2-3 years out on any new vehicle.

I had no idea the wait was that long. So far, I've seen 3 R8's in the Silicon Valley; 2 showed up a S-R recently within 2 weeks of each other and one black one that was just being picked up by it's new owner at the Audi dealer. I'm guessing these guy's must of put down money early last year or sometihng! They definetly draw a crowd!

To put the wait in perspective, I put my R8 deposit down early 2007 and I'd be happy to see it this year.
