Anyone compared an S6 to an S8 ?

I read that the S6's ride was rather harsh. I went on a test-drive and didn't find it too bad. Is the S8 a better ride in this regard ? I'm not looking for an all-out sports car (I have an F430 to scratch that itch) but I'd like a "sporty" car that is easy to live with every day. I had an E63 that was awful in ride quality and an unbearable transmission. Currently have a Maserati GranTurismo which has the best possible ride quality and easy-to-live-with factor, but I've found I can't live with 2 doors and a small trunk.

Would love to hear from anyone with experience of both the S6 and S8 for comparison...

I drove an S6 for a few miles and I found the ride to be bone-jarring.

I believe the S8 has air suspension, plus it's designed for a slightly different crowd. Though i have not been in an S8, I would imagine it would be a more comfortable ride.

I do not find the S6 to be "bone-jarring" at all.

Honestly, I do not see what advantages the S8 offers over the S6. Not faster, interior is not any better, same looks, but more expensive.

S6>S8
Pretty clear IMO, and I have had a lot of seat time in the S6

Anyone who calls an S6 "Bone-jarring" clearly has not owned a Challenge Stradale; which incidentally I found a supreme motivation to lose 30lbs (so that my jowls wouldn't shake after every road imperfection!)

thanks for the responses so far!

Well since 2 people seem to strongly disagree with my "bone-jarring" comment, I'll revise my statement:

"Compared to my E55, my 999TT, my Wrangler, my Prius, my Smart, and, ironically enough, my "regular" A6, the S6 I drove was indeed quite bone-jarring. However, the ride is comparable to an F360 like my dad's or a 996TT with a firm set of coilovers."

I suppose one doesn't expect that level of firmness in a luxury sport sedan.

With respect to the S8 not being any nicer than the S6, I firmly disagree as does the majority of the automotive community. The A8/S8 have been reviewed by countless sources as being the most luxurious car on the planet (barring the exotics like Bentley, RR, & Maybach).

IIRC, it's the S8 & S6 share the same naturally aspirated V10, which is a modified version of the Gallardo engine.

I got my wife the S6 a few months back and she loves the car. It's not bone jarring IMHO and if it was she wouldn't have got the car. This is the first car that she has said "I love my car" over and over. Usually she drives one for a while and gets another car a year or so later. She wants to keep this one. You of course don't know her or me but the S6 is a winnner in our books. We did test drive the s8 but she felt it was too big and didn't feel as "sporty" to her. I was happy with her decision and don't think you can go wrong with either car.

S8>S6 any day of the week. The right is adjustable from comfort, auto to FIRM, it will satisfy your ride preference. Exclusivity and the S8 wins again, see more S6's than S8's around.
I chose the S8 because its bigger and it feels damn good. Interior is better than the S6 IMHO. But I am biased.

Completely different animals. The S8 has full Audi Aluminum Space Frame which despite its size it still weights in around the same as a S6. Interior is much MUCH nicer especially with FULL LEATHER and B&O and CF inserts. The S8 offers 30 more HP than the S6 and with air suspension the ride is MUCH MORE smoother. S8 has dual layered glass like a Sclass rather than the S6's single layered glass like say a corolla. ETC ETC ETC the advantages the S8 has over the S6 is just endless. I'd say a S8 vs S6 comparison is like a S4 vs S6 comparison. They were NOT made to compete with each other!
