How Reliable are the new Audis?

Hey,

I am interested in buying a new Audi within the next month but I just had a question about the reliability. I am a bit skeptical because my dad's 1997 A4 1.8T had a lot of problems the past year. I was wondering how much do you guys pay in maintenance for your new Audis?

Thanks,
Paul

2004 S4 - 38,000 miles.

Zero maintenance costs (other than oil changes more frequent than called for by the owners manual)

This is my first Audi and I've been very pleasantly surprised. Lexus - like reliability is not what I had expected.

2007 A4 2.0T -23,000 Miles.

Nothing so far besides one loose radio cable connection and regular maintenance (oil and such). And, I drive it hard.

Granted this isn't a newer Audi, but I've owned a 97 2.8l for about 3 years as my DD car. Its been quite reliable for me. I have had a few things go wrong, but nothing I couldn't fix in my garage (MAF, ICV, wheel bearing, caliper). Currently at 120,xxx miles.

True. In the US, some dealers have been saying the warranty only applies for 1 year/12K miles. Rather than fix the problem (and it was a problem in the RS6), just shorten the warranty. It seems like everyone has still been able to get the repairs completed under warranty, just with a little hassle.

One of my seals and a catalytic converter were defective on my RS4. My dealer fixed both in one day under warranty. After that, not a single problem other than some cabin parts rattling. Mine is the only car I've heard of that has had any problems other than DRC failure and and engine misfires. Even those have been pretty rare.
