R8 hitting wall after losing control
I know a thing or two about going off the track too, I'm the one in the silver Boxster in the middle of the video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2joP4aKxcE
the difference, besides not having any traction control and RWD, is that once lost I know what to do, the second I know I lost it I start to take action not to cause an accident or make it worse...
the R8 is a puppy really, even at the limit the car behaves... I know...

even at the limit...
this guy should have done one stomp on the brakes, get aggressive with the steering to the left and he most likely would have saved it, probably a little out but on to trayectory...

Took me a while to get use to my car and comfort zone with my 2 on the track, and well now have some good experience and experiencES that scared the **** out of me, to help in other situations..
Have you been to VIR? Track is awesome but like I said, at that part going through the esses it gets SCARY and very uneasy feeling, if you don't turn the wheel hard staying in line at that point then straighten out the wheel to go straight to enter the last uphill ess it throws you off completely and then gets scary!
I haven't been to VIR...
But I've been to the Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City:

from turn 6 through 13 you have some grueling S's... but they are flat though... anyhow those S's have eaten GT3's, 996TT's, Cayman S's, Renault Clio V's, etc, etc... they are pretty though...
...still the ones at VIR seem more difficult... I wouldn't mind tackling them in a GT3...

On the uphill S's, my goodness, it took me a while to feel comfortable of raising speed through there and to get my line perfectly, one late or early movement in the wheel upsets everything
It's the elevation change and CHANGE in general coming through there, hard to explain but scary as hell...BUT overall, I feel great I was able to tackle them towards the end of the 2nd day on the track, and they became easy on the 3rd day until I started getting a bit cocky, getting MUC MUCH faster around the track and almost had an off moment again... Ah well, it's all part of the game, and so rewarding in a GT2/3 with accomplishment
Watching this video gave me a flashback to when I was 17 and my 86 Civic SI hatchback slid on black ice forever until it stopped...on a snowbank. Cracked the front bumper, but I was totally reliving that when he starts yelling, "dont hit the wall, please dont hit the wall." You knew it was coming...coming...coming....damn!!
