From my view it looks like he was going too fast into that corner, and he hit a bump suspension unloaded and lost control. Look at the Viper in front of him "hop" although the Viper was going much slower. Sucks but you have to expect the worst when racing.

the car in front was slower, R8 came in too hot, lifted right at top of the uphill when suspension is floating and lost grip and corrected even before loosing it which caused to loose it...

...if he had been a little more aggressive with steering and a stomp on the brakes and the car would have cought the right trayectory...

next time buy cups...

Ouch. Wrong time to push your limits.

EXACTLy what happened... I did the same thing, ran up on someone so fast at the same spot and had to lift , back end got wallowy, fought it slightly and went straight onto the grass without a spin.. Got lucky and scared the living **** out of me, those esses are no joke, especially in a group where people are going slow through them while you are COOKING!

That sucks

Is it me or did he appear to be extremely unhappy?

Heh...you would be too. With the ASF (Aluminum Space Frame)...car would be super expensive to fix, if not a total loss. Would never be the same even if repaired... Super unfortunate for the owner...feel sorry for him.

I know a thing or two about going off the track too, I'm the one in the silver Boxster in the middle of the video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2joP4aKxcE

the difference, besides not having any traction control and RWD, is that once lost I know what to do, the second I know I lost it I start to take action not to cause an accident or make it worse...

the R8 is a puppy really, even at the limit the car behaves... I know...

even at the limit...

this guy should have done one stomp on the brakes, get aggressive with the steering to the left and he most likely would have saved it, probably a little out but on to trayectory...
