Waiting list for a new A5?
I am moving to Bakersfield, CA next summer when I start working for Chevron as a petroleum engineer. I was wondering if there is typically a wait list for A5s. At the moment I am nowhere near an Audi dealer so I haven't had a chance to talk to anyone in person. I've really loved Audi's ever since my dad got an A4 turbo and the A5 seems like the right fit for Southern California. Been around the site for a while but I figured its time to get a proper six speed.
Thanks for the info. I'll keep you're dealer in mind when trying to find the one I want.
They were asking a buddy of mine for 10k over premium for an S5 (yes in this market) in LA. He went and got a new 2008 M3 sedan for about 6k under MSRP. Nice car but it's not an exotic. GL regardless. Looks good.
50k is about my upper price limit at the moment. Do you know what dealer in LA that was?

the s5 is still tight but i don't think anyone is paying above msrp any more..anyone outside of socal that is! there have been some in stock from time to time, it's just hit or miss on timing.
Igloo Man,
I actually live in Bakersfield and was planning to buy an A5. We have a new Audi dealership locally opened by the Family Motors Group. They also run Porsche, VW and Hyundai. I was pretty excited when they came to town because I've been a fan of Audi styling inside and out. Like yourself, my budget was pretty much about 50K. Back in November they had 1 A5 in stock. The sales guy said they'll get about 1 per month. It was loaded with every option so it came out to be about 54K. They were asking about a 5K markup on it on top of that. That pretty much turned me off and I started hitting the forums. Turns out that it's pretty tough to get an A5 for under MSRP in CA right now. There were other personal little things also. I did not want black seats and the sports package only comes with black alcantera. Although it did feel nice and I liked the stitching. I wanted red leather seats but that was only available on the S5. In short, I wound up ordering a BMW 335i Coupe and have had it for 2 weeks now. I got it loaded just the way I wanted for under 50K and on top of that you have the 4 yr. free maintenance. I also got it with the 1.9% financing special at the time. As you can see, it made a lot more sense to go that route at the time and I love the car. The 300 hp twin turbo inline six is wonderful and the car handles very well as bmw's are known for. I like the Audi interiors better. Before I always thought the BMW interiors were kinda plain but I have to say, the minimalism of the interior has grown on me since actually using it. Anyways, good luck and by the time you get into town maby the A5's will be cheaper and aplenty.
