Arrow Any S5 owners come from a modified B5 S4?

I'm curious if any S5 owners here came from a B5 S4. I'm thinking about getting a Cayman S, a V8 S5, or holding out for the supercharged S5. I understand the S5 is a very different ride from the Cayman S, but I am considering both.

I love the togetherness and handling of the Cayman S.
I love the look, relative luxury/comfort of either S5.
I love the intoxicating sound of the V8 in the S5.
And I'm sure I'm interested in a supercharged engine in the S5.

Not to turn this into a V8 vs s/c V6 S5 argument, I'm more interested in people's impressions coming from a B5 S4. The reason I am 'concerned' is that neither of the 2 current cars give me the same acceleration feel as my stage 2 S4. Granted I don't have a stage 3 monster, but my S4 has amazing torque down low and pulls like a mother. I'm curious what impressions everyone have been coming from a similar ride as mine.

Well, I have a stage3 monster. A stage3 E85 drinking psychopath, and I've been for a ride in the S5. The S5 is the car you get when your 30+ its almost a midlife crises car but it doesn't have the flash. So now lets review your cars of choice.

S5 its a great car, great interior ::V8:: its not very mod friendly like our b5's.
Cayman S is a track car. It handles amazingly, it lacks power but it can hang with some dedicated cars on a road coarse.

Now we have a conflict of interest. The S5 is a 4 seater GT car, the Cayman is a 2 seater go cart. For me, when it comes time to hang my Nogaro Jersey on the wall and pick a new weapon of choice its going to be a TTRS.

Ooooh, your monster sounds evil and fun!

Can't really mod the V8 too much; the s/c v6 on the other hand, yes. But, I do think the S5 has plenty of flash...those LEDs are vicious!

I'm betting the TTRS will cost quite a penny making it not as attractive...and I really think it needs to have more aggressive flares.

I guess I'm just not sure if I want the fun go kart or the GT cruiser right now. Used Cayman S's are as low as 35k now, so that might make the decision easier for me. Maybe get one for now and try to unload it when the s/c v6 S5 comes out? Hmmm....

Hey, I hear ya. Personaly I'd stick with your B5, its one of Audi's greatest chassis' and it sure has alota spunk. Getting a Cayman and switching to an S5 is a great idea.... but it has one fatal flaw. People who buy Pcars never go back. As for my B5 well, it would do 2.7 fats on K04s with E85. It also ran 11.6 in the 1/4 on pump.

Plain and simple, you need to.

They can be some true monsters...For what it is, I think you'd be hard pressed to get more care for the money.

No need to sell me on how beastly a properly tuned stage 3 can be...ive seen the videos!

I want to get into a newer chassis, with newer amenities, and a warranty.

This is a great synopsis. Driven an S5, own a (freshly completed and dyno'd) 613whp B5 S4. There's absolutely no comparison. You will never get one to feel like the other. Just a question of if you want to badly enough to realize you have to go back to a B5 S4 to get what you're looking for.

Even better, if the upcoming RS5 had a pumped up version of the turbocharged inline-5 of the TT-RS, I'd be all over that! The sexxy chassis of the S5 and the great potential of the 5-cyl TT-RS powerplant. YUM.

There's another thread on Audizine of someone talking to a rep at quattro GmbH: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=268924 saying it will be a pumped up V8.

The TTRS looks amazing, im obsessing over the interior and seats, but Im not sure if they plan to bring it here.

Btw, with all the talk about modding our b5's, I'm not looking to keep mine or go stage 3...I'm looking for a newer platform (and it has to be a manual).

You're running E85 in your stage 3 B5 S4? Details on the setup?
