The dealer told me there is only 750 total will be imported.
Is that true?

 

Doubt it, I've seen several recently in Los Angeles, hard to believe that with 750 total that would happen so often in the last few weeks as it has.

 

Probably limited by demand. That is mad expensive for a TT, regardless of how good it is.

 

I suspect it's limited because of the upcoming TT-RS that will take over that demand.

 

It's not a limited production, it is simply 'limited' due to demand. The TT-S is somewhat middle of the mill power if you look at it's competitors, yet the price is pretty steep. Audi has said the TT-RS will not be coming to the US, probably because at its suggested price pt it won't be selling many.

It sounds like "limited" means demand>supply. There are about a dozen TT-Ss at the dealership right across the street. They could also be referring to the number of units produced compared to the 2.0 and 3.2 TTs. Don't you just love vague industry lingo? LOL

 

So the TT-RS is confirmed to not be coming over here either? This is my nightmare, they just tease us with these sick cars we can't have.

 

I know what you mean jibberjive. I've heard a couple theories as to why they're not bringing it over. They range from pricing point too high for US market to fear of stealing sales from other S and RS models to even potentially stealing sales away from Boxster and Cayman purchases. The last one doesn't really make sense. Although there is a family connection between Audi and Porsche, that isn't a reason not to bring a model to a specific market. The R8 was designed to specifically go after the C4S market. I guess the "insider info" still tastes better with a grain of salt...
