Looking at a B8 A4 2.0T Q

Gents,

Need some pointers here. I am quite impressed with the tuned looks of this car but in the performance department it is quite...let's say...sluggish.

So what I am asking is how many of you who own a B8 A4 have tuned it to get more HP and ft lbs/tq out of it?

I have seen kits like this one: MTM engine performance

This is probably one of my favorite A4s, short of the rims that I do not like:

Phantom black B8

Opinions and thoughts?

Sure it could be quicker and I do plan to chip it and add an exhaust, but the car has plenty of power for my needs and already attracts enough attention from the cops (1 speeding, 2 fix-it tix). I'm just waiting for more performance mods to be released for the B8 rather than settling on the few that are currently on the market. Tuners seem to be seeing great potential in the new 2.0T engine, so I am anxious to see what they come up with.

Dorian, since you're in Norcal it would probably be useful to stop in at Stasis Engineering and see what they're planning to do with the B8.

Once you Chip the car.. Its whole different BEAST.. Im not a fan of the new B8 A4, but they handle soo well... and you cant go wrong with Stasis Engineering...Revo, APR, and Unitronics are just as good of Performance Chips...

How much of a difference are you seeing per dollar invested for the chips?

I.e $500 gets you 25 HP, $1000 gets you 50HP (all extra of course).

I'm curious what you don't like about the B8... looks? I liked the B7, but the B8 just seems to have improved on it in every way (performance, styling, technology, etc), IMO.

Im not arguing that the car has been improved.... Because it has.. the new TSI engines are sick, and they handle like a dream.. Now as for looks... The rear just looks like BMW to me IMO..

I've heard that complaint as well, but I just don't see it...

your looking at 35 HP to 50 HP gains... but your TQ is something crazy like 100+ TQ.. and price wise..its about $499 with REVO, $599 with APR..

Blake,

Your car and the Phantom Black one are pretty much the deciding factors for me. What you've done with it is turn it from a normal sedan into a masterpiece.

They both have trunks, bumpers, and tail lights, but that's where the similarities end, IMO.

all the 'chips' are somewhat the same
they're no longer chips as well but just software installed through the port

the b8 is VERY moddable with software

generally about 35hp and 50 torque

Right there with you. The only thing I hate about the B8 rear end is that single exhaust.
