What's the market $$ on new 2010 S5?
Went to local dealer today and to my surprise they had 4 cars. All were prestige, all equipped identically (different colors), except 1 unit had the ADS for $4k more.
Questions:
1. Debating on color. Primary concern is resale/lease assumption because I know we won't keep it for 36 months. We narrowed it to Quartz Grey / Ebony or Phantom Black / Ebony. Thoughts?
2. Options. The magazine reviews say the ADS makes for a sportier ride than non-ADS cars, but $4K is a lot of money for a suspension option. I'm thinking I could just get PSS9s or equivalent if I bought a non-ADS equipped car. Does that sound like a happy medium, or is the ADS really that good?
3. Price. Sales Manager said they would definitely discount from MSRP, but would not talk a specific number until I committed to a specific unit. Fair enough. I then inquired about lease rates. Manager quoted 52% residual on a 36mo / 12K lease, but the LeaseCompare rates are showing 58%. I know dealers can manipulate numbers to hide extra profit in different places, but I thought they were required to use the bank residual. Is it possible the November residual numbers dropped 6%, or is the dealer just offering me a discount from MSRP so he can make it up on the back end?
On the topic of price, Edmunds suggests a $2K discount is common on a new S5. The invoice spread appears to be about $4.5K. Would it be unreasonable to try to get a $4k discount? Does the dealer have any trunk money on the S5?
