My new S5
My new S5
Hey guys,
Just purchased a 2008 Ibis White S5 with Magma Red Interior.... The car drives like a dream..... I got a great deal on this car... Its basically brand new with 1800 miles on it. The interior smells brand new and the leather looks like it has not even been sat in.....
Optons:
Audi Navigation Plus
Technology Package
B&O sound system
Stainless Steel Texture Inlay
It already came with 3M clear bra and Huper Optik Tint
On a side note, on a spirted drive, I noticed a slight oscillating vibration in the accelorator pedal at highway speeds. Around 75-85 mph. I brought the car in for service. The dealership wanted me to pay 149.00 to road force balance the tires. They did that and it still didn't cure the problem so they are going to give me new control arms. With that being said, I still had to dish out 149.00 for nothing.... Not a good way to start off a service relationship! Anyone have this problem?

Awesome looking car! Looks bad *** in white as well. Audi did a great job with the S5's.
Sorry to hear about your problem. My concern with this might be "Why would the control arms be bad?" . It would seem like it would take a lot to mess up/bend the control arms, although running into a curb at a high speed could do it. Are the old ones bent for sure? If so, I would not want to pay the $149.00 for balancing as I would feel they should have come up with the right problem in the first place.
It kinda sounds like the service department is just taking guesses at what could be the problem, as opposed to narrowing down the problem and coming up with a firm diagnosis. Best of luck to you in getting a speedy resolution so that you can fully enjoy that nice ride of yours.

Get your money back, tell them that you made me waste money on something that wasnt the problem. That is unacceptable, and I would make sure they know that b/c they might take this as, this guy will pay for anything we say.

I spoke to the service manager on the fact that i should not pay the 149.00 but they stated that they have not ruled out that it is the wheels. Thats how they screwed me... So right now the control are on order and when they do the install and if it eliminates the vibration, then I will complain that I should get my 149.00 refunded to me.
Yeah, I told the service manager that guessing is unacceptable. He stated that when a vibration is occuring, Audi makes them take certain steps in. So the first step is to road force the tires. Once they are road forced and the problem still persists then they can move on to the next thing. Unfortunately it costs me 149.00 for the road force. Once the contol arms come in and it resolves the problem, I will make a case that the tires were not the problem, and tell them to refund my money....
I paid 47k for it. The MSRP on this was 59k. The clear bra and tint were already on the car also which was not included in the MSRP. I have been looking online for months and the average for 08's range from 50-54k. So I believe I got a great deal....

Don't waste your time arguing with the dealer anymore. Proceed directly to AoA and state your complaint. As was stated above, this is a know issue with these cars and should have been addressed initially. They are just trying to make an extra buck!!
