This is a very common misconception as long as your tires are within 3% rolling diameter of each other you will be fine I ran 265/30/19 on a 10in wide rim rear and 235/35/19 9in wide rim front and there was no issue whatsoever.

Aggressive offsets will be available for Audi's as well as conservative.

I couldn't agree more. If lip is the issue, custom wheels allow wheels with the same width to have "staggered lip" appearance. Although, I've never seen a company that will make the same width wheels with a less concave face for the fronts and a more concave face for the back. Concavity typically depends on offset. Hopefully Vossen is working on such a solution.
