Nice videos...doesn't clarify/justify why he should get a B8 S4 over a RS 4. Oh...and B8 S4 will have the same problem as RS 4 as far as CBU. They both have FSI.

Audi has increased the operating temp as well as how the carbon vapors are dealt with. The B8 may still get some carbon build up, but for now it is understood that it will be much slower if at all.

Not saying it can't happen, that's for sure... You can always lease the B8 for 3 years if it's something you're worried about.

Taking me much longer to get the ball rolling on my sell than originally thought.

Carfax also tried to tell me that I had wrecked my car when I absolutely have not! So have been sending forms back and forth with them and they are contacting the Texas police department. Have no idea how I got misreported and a PITA to deal with, but we all make mistakes so no biggie.

In the meantime ordered some more detailing supplies and will give it one last good cleaning.

Got a lot of thinking to do, will probably just drive the Jeep till I figure out what I want
B7 RS4 or bust

The CB is def an issue, but seems to be magnified more by non-owners. Ask almost any RS4 owner out there, and we have learned to live with the occassional cleaning, and the people that I know of that have sold their RS4 because of CB concerns are less than the fingers on my left hand.

And the B8 S4 is still an FSI engine. The jury is still out, need more time and miles to accumulate before anyone can definitively say they are CB immune.

To me the B8 is very vanilla plain Jane, nothing wrong with that if you want a decent daily driver. But considering where you are coming from I doubt it will raise your blood pressure (in a good way) an RS4 can. Just my $0.02. Let us know what you decide.

I guess at the end of the day it's which one you end up liking more, for me, the B8 just has more going for it. (I like the engine, balance, and ability to get easy gains with the motor with mods...) IMO the biggest problem with the RS4 is the carbon build up... also the gas mileage. I've had two V8 S cars and they just sucked gas like no tomorrow.
(which really shouldn't be an issue, but getting 190-200 mile range on a tank can get old... which is what was happening to me)

Just rambling thoughts tho, go drive both and see what you like better. Can't really go wrong either way.
yeh its very annoying, small gas tank + worse than some v8 trucks mileage = constant annoying fill ups. Friend had a B7 S4 and now RS4, both worse on gas than my heavier V8 truck lol. S4 was actually borring, just not powerful and heavy but he had no real problems. RS4 has had a bunch of issues and he had the engine cleaned from carbon awhile ago... you noticeably feel a loss of power as it gets worse and it's an $ job. He trapped only 104 at Moroso and after cleanup about 108 which is pretty good for south fl humidity, but the B8 S4 is basically right there as far as trap speeds.

B8 s4

Very well balanced car. Sound is just not there so if you want the V8 sound, do nto go with this car. Engine is very lively and responsive. Drove the S5 back to back and S4 picks up quicker. S5 engine sounds great after 4000 RPM. Power is later in the RPM range compared to the V6T. RS4 sounds great and handles well, but is getting to be outdated if you are interested in having the latest gadgets in your car from factory. RS4 will need the suspension replaced if it hasn't already. Cant go wrong with either.

I had an RS4 and hated it. It wasnt fast, wasnt reliable, and just ok in every way. It looks good and sounds great but thats about it. Carbon build up is a huge issue and I only owned the car for about two months and had two major recalls(DRC and ignition coil packs). Even though the B8 isnt quite as sexy it is hands down the better car in almost every way in my eyes. From modding potential to lower cbu potential etc. Interior is nicer, nav is better, tiptonric and the list goes on. After owning an RS4 I can not see why so many people love it. It has been one of the worst cars I have ever owned. I think you will love the S4...
