that was a great commercial.

 

i usually like Audi´s commercials as they are very intelligent and funny.
But i don`t know if Audi nailed it with this one. It is funny for the most part,
but does the message really work?
The A8 is a really nice car, in and out. But they should have chosen a boring
(just like the old-fashioned s-class customers) colour for the S-class,
something like brown, beige etc. In white it looks very good, from some
angles better than the new A8. Not too clever, esp. from the marketing company!


P.S: The "mothership" superbowl spot, even tho it was just representing the new Passat,
was a million times better!

I liked the Passat commercial, the kid and the dog, it made me smile. It was cute.

I have watched the A8 ad many times and it makes me laugh out loud. That doesn't happen often. It is pure entertainment. Laughing gives people a good feeling that is memorable and that creates goodwill towards the brand. Just look at the youtube comments, 98% love it. I have not seen one of the new A8's in person, but it seems to be an enlarged S5 shape, which is good. I think the S5 is one of the sharpest sedans out there, better than a merc, imo.

The thing about the mercedes line is that they have screwed up both the CLS and S classes. The original CLS is a classic and the W220 S600 was the best merc looks ever. They have made both too narrow with excessive wheel wells. No colors can change that.

 

The Passat commercial was cute, but no relevant message to the car or brand itself. The Audi breakout spot was very clever! Would have been sweet if rather than the escapee getting behind the wheel himself, he jumps into the backseat and you see Jason Statham behind the wheel driving him away But I guess they blew their budget w/ the Kenny G cameo

 

Audi is trying to hard. If you're so good why isn't Mercedes using an AUDI in their commercials? Good try, but lame at the same time... Promoting a product by dismissing another...
