looking at old model TT S4's

anything I need to be carefull of. i know they have tranny and turbo problems. I'm not worried about the turbos, just gives me an excuse to upgrade.

Is an extended warranty a must have?

I'm specifically looking at avants.

If you plan on modding, an extended warranty is pointless. All stock turbos (k03s) will blow. There really isn't to many problems with the trannies unless the car has been abused.

And if you are looking for an avant you may want to conside mine

I had no plans to sell but have came across a deal to upgrade to a porsche that I can't pass up. Here are the specs on my car and some pics.

2001 S4 Avant
73k miles
Every option but sport package

Motor was just gone through about 2 months ago. All service done and anything needing to be replaced was done. The car is in pristine shape.

-AWE Fueling Kit w/ 5 programs
-RS6/k04 hybrid turbos w/ clearenced and extrude honed exhaust
housings from Innovative Turbo
-AWE Intercoolers
-AutoSpeed Downpipes
-LaBree custom dual 2.5" exhaust
-EVO MS intake
-Matrix Integrated oil cooler kit
-STaSIS/OHLINS Motorsport suspension w/ 750/900 springs
-STaSIS/Alcon Motorsport 6 piston front brakes with 14" rotors
-Pagid RS9 street pads
-OZ 18" anthracite SLs
-Toyo RA1s 225/40/18
-Hsport 22mm rear sway bar
-STaSIS 4:1 torsen center diff
-SACHS Motorsports clutch
-SACHS Motrosprots 18lbs. steel single mass flywheel
-Tanoga short shifter
-B6 S-line air leather shift ****
-Black alcantara shift boot
-STaTUS Laguna racing seats black leather w/ black air leather centers
and carbon fiber shell
-Omori 52mm custom vent boost gauge
-AWE pedals
-APR snub mount
-AWE DTS
-Samco hose kit
-710n diverter valves
-Piggie manual boost controller
-OEM RS4 front bumper
-OEM Euro headlight housings
-Phillips silver vision bulbs
-JL Audio 10w6v2
-Alpine amp
-there are some other things I am sure but that is all I can think of right now.

The car is putting down 420whp on 91 octane on a dyno
jet. Back when I had regular k04s I was putting down 470+whp on race gas on the same dynojet. Should be over 500whp on race gas now with new turbos and I have all the dyno sheets to prove this.

Here is a dyno plot of my car overlaid on a stock s4's plot back when I had plain jane k04s. If you want to see other dyno plots email me. I have several more from different dynos, days, etc.

Here are some recent pics.

gorgeous car, i'd rather do the car myself. I'd wait for the turbos to blow and i'd rather have the extended warranty cause if I have problems I'd put the car back to stock. I'm worried about tranny issues, everyone i've know that's had an S4 has had them.

have you had any?

Thanks, yeah building the car up is 1/2 the fun. But buying a modded car can save you alot of money also.

"i'd rather have the extended warranty cause if I have problems I'd put the car back to stock" that is fraud but ok

Nope no tranny issues but I don't drag the car. Only been to the 1/4 mile track twice.

LOL!!!!! Right......................

Looks like I missed the opportunity on the porsche I wanted to buy. So I'm not selling my car unless I get an offer I can't refuse.

ya, a kid i know had an allroad 2.7t (same engine, dunno about the tranny) and the 6spd tranny had some serious issues, they actually ended up hooking him up w/ a great deal on a gorgeous blue b6 s4 avant
