What's the word on the 2012 S5? Will it have the V8 or the 3.0 supercharged V6? Will the transmission have the 7speed dual clutch Stronic? Any exterior changes? Thanks.

 

I have heard conflicting reports. Supercharged V6 with Manual or Stronic is the current setup in S5 Cab.

My bro has a 2011 S5 and I have to say I love the sound of the V-8. Very thirsty car though. He probably fills up every few days.

I like the SC 6 in my S4, but at times I wish Audi had kept the V-8 in the S4.
V-8 makes the car just a little more special. However from a gas mileage and quickness standpoint I think the Stronic SC 6 has the V-8 by a tick or two.

 

I think we'll find out soon because most orders for Audi's next model year starts in late spring, but nothing solid yet. Oh, and the current S5 Cab comes in Stronic only.

 

Thanks for the reply. Is the gas mileage that much better from a 6SC compared to a V8 Tiptronic? Thought it might be a 1-2mpg improvement only.

Saw this on the another Audi site. Looks like the 2012 S5 is going to keep the same V8 and 6AT.
