S6:

Powered by a twin-turbo 4.0 liter TFSI V8 the S6/S6 Avant comes with 420
PS (309 kW / 414 bhp) and 550 Nm (405.66 lb-ft) of constant torque
between 1,400 and 5,300 rpm coupled to a 7-speed S-tronic transmission.
The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint comes in at 4.8 seconds while top
speed is an electronically-governed 250 km/h (155 mph).
Average fuel economy on the (quattro) all-wheel drive S6 is 9.7 liters/100
km while just slightly more for the S6 Avant - 9.8 liters/100 km.
That consumption figure is achieved through the use of energy
recuperation, a stop-start system as well as a cylinder management
system that shuts down four of the cylinders under partial load.
The chassis gets an air suspension with variable damping up to 10 mm
while 19-inch wheels are standard with options on a range of 19- and
20-inch rim/tire combinations.
The interior comes with a leather sport steering wheel and paddle shifters
in brushed aluminum. A finish in Pearl Nappa leather and Alcantara comes
standard with finer leathers available as options.
S7:

Sharing most of its DNA with its S6 sibling, the 2012 Audi S7 Sportback
comes with the same power plant - the 4.0 TFSI twin-turbo V8.
As in the S6, the unit is good for exactly 420 PS (309 kW / 414 bhp) and
550 Nm (405.66 lb-ft) of torque while the S7's configuration features the
same cylinder deactivation technology, stop-start system and energy
recuperation as in S6. The gearbox is also the 7-speed S-tronic
transmission. On the (quattro) all-wheel drive S7, acceleration from 0 to
100 km/h (62 mph) takes 4.9 seconds.
The commonality with the S6 continues with the air suspension and the
19-inch wheels upon which the S7 rides.
The interior features S badging and a red ring around the start-stop button
as well as the S7 logo on the illuminated door sills. Footrest and pedals are
of stainless-steel while decorative trimming is offered in aluminum, carbon
and various fine-grain woods.

S8:

The S8 is powered by a 4.0 liter TFSI twin-turbo V8 configured to deliver
520 PS (382 kW / 513 bhp) and 650 Nm of torque (479.42 lb-ft).
Transmission is the 8-speed Tiptronic - engine and gearbox together allow
the S8 to do the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in just 4.2 seconds.
Top speed on the (Quattro) all-wheel drive S8 is electronically-limited to
250 km/h (155 mph).
Audi also adapts its "cylinder on demand" cylinder deactivation technology
to the S8 which helps it reach a fuel-economy figure of 10.2 liters/100 km.
The S8 also features an adaptive air suspension with variable damping.
Standard wheels are the 9J x 20-inch rims with 265/40R20 tires while four
21-inch wheel offerings are available as an option.
On the inside, the flagship range-topper gets multi-way, powered comfort
sports seats designed specifically for the S8 while a variety of lush finishes
are available.
New tech on the S8 is the 360 degree parking system with four cameras
getting an around-the-car view while a computer splices the images
together for the driver to see on the display screen.

Are the engines actually different or did Audi just leave 100hp on the table for the s6/s7 so the s8 could be the "power leader" from the factory? Seems like a nice "tune" could be in order for the others!

 

as far as i know, the engines of the S6, S7 are just detuned versions of the S8`s.

 

Transmission will be the limiting factor in the S6/7 versus the S8.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's HIGHLY unlikely we will see any more S avants in the US in the near future. Hell, AoA already decided not to bring the A6 avant and it looks like the A4 avant is on the chopping block next. Sad, but true.

 

I love the new seats but the exterior needs more something...
Looks like I'm keeping my S6 V10 for a while longer.

 

I love the quilted seats - they are the bomb ..
