XPEL Ultimate PPF Put to the test on an R8

Thought you guys might be interested in this.

It is my Audi R8 covered with XPEL Ultimate Paint Protection Film subjected to some pretty horrible stuff. This film is the new standard in paint protection film. Nothing else comes close. If you don't believe me, try this with your own car with whatever brand of paint protection film you have on it.

Can you mention what is so special about the Ultimate film? I just had an Xpel kit placed on the front of my 2010 Ibis White S4; (replacing one that had 'yellowed'), and am now wondering if I should have asked for this specific type of film.

XPEL Ultimate is made with an automotive clear coat that has a very low surface energy. What this means in a nutshell, is nothing will stick to it (kind of like a teflon pan). This is significant because yellowing is caused by environmental contaminants embedding themselves into the film. Oils from the road, diesel smoke and other pollution are the most common offenders. With this film, these types of particles simply wash away.

As a bonus, this clear coat is also self-healing. It is made from elastomeric polymers that find their own level when disturbed, meaning that swirls or light scratches disappear on their own in a very short time.

Bish,

Watch this new video that shows off the self healing properties of our film.

I would have went with this if I had known about it but the installer didn't recommend your PPF over the 3M.
Too bad you didn't contact us or your installer. The film replacement including labor would have been completely free, even if the film wasn't entirely at fault.
