I agree. I have been shopping/researching for 6 months. There was one in FL that sold. There is another one in FL that I looked at that was not up to par. And a third for sale. Check autotrader and carsforsale. These are the medium blue cars.

There is a very nice dark blue in Hollywood.

And two ice blue cars; one in Denver and the other is a secret (as I hope to buy!!)

White is also very hard to find!

Best

Jeff

Yesterday, It's or was sitting on their showroom floor with the window sticker still on it. It looked fabulous. I'm assuming it was for sale. I was interested in an S4 at the time.

Ya that's Sepang Blue... Mugello Blue is a 2008-2009 color that is more of Navy (dark) blue.

About 2 weeks ago, I bought that Sepang blue spyder off the floor at Jack Daniels - it had everything I wanted - V10, 6 speed, titanium wheels, carbon inside, light silver leather. The car just flat grabbed me by the nuts and I traded my Porsche in on it pretty much on-the-spot. I've owned about 16 or 17 Porsches (includes a bunch of turbos) over a 40 year period and that may now end.

I've put 300 miles on the car going nowhere special - every errand ends up being a one hour drive. Porsches are clinically great, the R8 has all of the Porsche-like performance goodness, but adds emotion to the equation. The Sepang blue looks incredible in the sun, or even on cloudy days. It's so nice to get away from the classic silver, black, and white Porsche colors on the cars I previously owned.

For real ?

From what I've read the R8's don't even come close to pulling like a porsche and that seems to tell a big story. Your comments above are the first I've read especially from someone who claims to have owned a number of porsches...I do like the R8's look, I wonder if your feeling(s) will remain or change. It might give me something else to look reasonably look foward to...

Current generation Porsche turbos, GTR's ZR-1's all "pull harder" than the V10 R8. If that is the most important part of your decision for a street car, than you certainly can do better than the R8 V10. But, for me, the R8 is the best rounded car I've ever driven, but I count subjective variables as part of that equation. I've owned 996 turbos and 997 turbos and I got rid of them because IMO, the unmodded turbos have little "soul". I was actually much happier with my 2011 N/A 997.2 C2S which I found to be far more responsive and "alive" than the turbos. We can debate all day, but I'm just telling you based on what I find important in a sports car, I've never owned a car that I've enjoyed more. I've owned Porsches continually for 40 years - maybe that's the issue, I'm on the older side of owners and value comfort, handling, steering, braking and beauty more that I value whether a car can run the quarter mile in 11.2 (GTR) or 11.8 (R8 V10). BTW, I dislike PDK transmissions so that took a 997 Turbo S (which will cream a R8 V10) out of the running for me. Hope this helps

I'm happy somebody bought that car, glad to have helped in a little way with finding a home for the R8.

Great perspective. I see a track only car and a DD and possibly an in be tweener. They are all fun and worth the expense IMHO.

Yes great perspective. I now have a renewed "other watch list" interest.

If you go to R8talk.com, you'll find many other current and past Porsche owners who also own R8's. You can see their perspective. The one thing about the R8 that you have to decide for yourself whether you like, is that it is a very attention-grabbing car. Even here in Bergen County where there are many high end car dealers, the R8 attracts attention (so far, only good) like nothing I've ever driven.
