The Cayman is the better sports car no question asked but, you really prefer the R as a daily driver? I prefer my TTRS over my Boxster spyder as a daily driver due to it being quick in real life. Easy to get going with low end torque, quick in faster slippery conditions, and a useable trunk that actually fit a bag when going to the airport. Even then i wish it was a tad larger and had useable rear seats. With my GTR being almost a bigger version of it I'm not quite sure on what to do yet.

Yes......guess this is what makes horse races. I have a wonderful set of twisties that I take as part of my daily drive. Speed limit is 35 and I can readily go 58-60 mph through the switchbacks. The road surface is also quite good for the overall 11.5 mile commute so I get to leverage the best of the vehicle. As I stated previously.........I love Audis, in fact, VW too with 9 VWs between my wife,me, son and Daughter in law. So, Audi and VW total is 15. For my spirited daily drive though, gotta go with the CS and CR.

Not knocking the Cayman S or R at all, buta simple REVO software flash brought my TT RS to 407hp/405 torque, then we added the Milltek cat-replacement pipes and it is even greater now...blindingly, blindingly fast...much more so than the early 911 turbos I have had...same acceleration kick, but it starts down real low. Fully loaded with Nav, I paid about $64K

Forge intercooler is due in tomorrow, then the car gets turned into a Pirelli World Challenge GTS race car.

I agree you have to consider a flashed car as the default, as most people do that.

Discounting the flash is like judging a hotdog on taste, but not letting people put some mustard on it.

Whatever.
TT RS stock 0-60 in 4.1 175 mph top speed 360 hp 56k base with A/c
Cayman R stock 0-60 4.7 175 mph top speed 330 hp 66K base no a/c

For $700, the TT RS hp can be 407/405 tq..0-60 sub 4, with increased rev limit with the software, it should top out at about 185

The Cayman, S, & R is a very nice car, as is the TT and the TT RS.

We will see how the TT RS compares to the Cayman S on the track in this 2012 Pirelli World challenge series.
Should be interesting.

TT RS VS CaymanS/R

Just sold my 2008 CS with Quaiffe,KW coilovers, sways, Softronics plenum kit,Miltek headers w/ no cats, remus race, almost no option car w/ race seats etc.etc. Weighed less than the CaymanR and had more power. My stock TT RS absolutely smokes my previous CS. I'll spend less than half on upgrades for the TT RS that I spent on the CS and will handle as well - just different dynamics and outpower the CS. I'll give the Cayman an edge on steering response and vehicle dynamics due to mid-engine layout but that's it ! CS would have required a TPC turbo ( another 12+ K ) in upgrades to be competitive.

Put the Milltek cat-delete downpipes on...can be used with the stock exhaust...definite power bump...but for the best, get the REVO software.

With the Milltek pipes, there is no oxys sensor after the cats, so you will not get a check engine light. Superior sound and a power bump.

My TT RS is a real beast...and I have raced cars professionally for many many years in IMSA, Grand-Am Rolex and cup, World challenge, etc., so I have driven so high powered cars. It is the closest thing to a race car on the street I have ever driven!!

It would be nice to hear if your times on your local track are faster in the TT RS, and if so, by how much. All of the tack times online seem to be for stock cars. I'd love to know what the flash and the completion Haldex do for the car.

Why do you think the car gets washed with being 'no fun' and 'less engaging' when journalists take it on the track? I also hear a lot of talk about 'understeer'.

I have never driven this car at the limit.

Modification plans for TT RS

I have planned out my mod list for my TT RS - the HPA Haldex controller and stiffer tranny mount, Diesel Geek short shifter,H&R lowering springs(.6" drop) and H&R sways - 24mm&22mm, 034 adj drop links for sways,Pagid RS4-2 pads with stainless steel brake lines,Motul 600 fluid, stock size drilled rear rotors.Brakes, suspension, and HPA stuff will be done by mid Feb since all parts are on hand or on the way. Engine will get the Forge larger intercooler,Scorpion exhaust w/ hi flo cat, and a GIAC extreme file. Already ditched the Toyo tires for Bridgestone RE11's on stock rims. Forgestar F14's 19x9 ordered which will get Pilot Sport cup tires.Ceramic tint is done and got the clear bra done today. Removing rear seat and fabing a harness bar. Also plan on installing Recaro or Sparco seats w/ 6 pt harness. Will hit the track at Spring Mountain Motorsport in April.I know I'm sick but unable to drive anything stock!!

Enjoying this thread. It is why there is more than one brand of car with each having its own strong supporters. It reminds me of the time that I bought an 03 E46 M3 new and after a few thousand miles of driving wrote in a forum why I found it disappointing against what I expexted it to be based on the reports of many owners who thought it the best car ever. I sold it a few months later and, horror of horrors replaced it with an 04 Mini S which for my use as a daily driver found to be much more enjoyable as it was more tossable and delivered a much higher sense of driver feedback. So, for me, the CS/CR is what I seek in terms of higher performance in a daily driver. The only other car I had seriously considered before ordering the CR was a Lotus Evora S....fleeting consideration of the GT3 but it beat me up a bit too much for my daily drive. Cheers.......

I just took delivery of my TT RS love it. I had a Boxster S for a bit last year and the TT RS is defiantly its peer. each car has its strengths.

Fantastic size and great power. I'm taking it easy for the first little bit.

Looking for an ecu remap, and two possibilities come up, Revo and Giac.
Does anyone have info on th Giac map?

It's not released yet, I see you DesertCaymanS is looking at the extreme version of it?

Giac ECU tune

The extreme file is complete. Requires the intercooler and exhaust upgrades for full effect. Just waiting for the file to be encrypted to prevent copying. Hope to have all parts and dyno #'s by end of March.
