Which R8 should I buy?
Which R8 should I buy?
Looking to get an R8 and I'm interested in fellow 6speeder's opinions on which one they would choose and why?
Both are same color with interior carbon and enhanced leather. One 2011, one 2012. The 2011's sticker is $8k more than the 2012's, but due to the leftover discount, I can get it for $5k less than the price I've negotiated on the 2012. However, the $8k difference in stickers is due to the exterior carbon package, which is cool, but I would never order. Obviously, the biggest thing to consider here is resale value when I only plan to keep it for 2 years max.

Sorry. Forgot to mention these are spyders. Therefore, the ext cf is on the front splitter and rear diffuser.
they look really good, but as matt farah points out at 08:48
"very cool, totally unnecessary"

I recognize with the spyder the side blade is not the issue, but I have to agree with Djantlive that the sideblade is not attractive. To me it breaks up the cars beautiful lines. Regarding the recommendation, I would also recommend the 2012 vs the 2011 for resale considerations. However, I'm curious why you would put a cap of two years on ownership. It's like going into a marriage knowing you will get a divorce. If that's the case, then get a pre-nup. Find a used Spyder, so you won't lose as much when you separate. Sounds like maybe there's a mistress in the wings, like maybe a 458 Italia spyder?
That's the plan. One last car before I succomb to F-car d*****bagery.

Many R8 ads talk about the original sticker price. If you can get an 8k more expensive car for 5k less, might not be bad to go that way. Since it's older you also get to put more miles on it. I was offered a leftover spyder for 20k under MSRP, or what sales guy claimed was 3k under invoice. Didn't even ask, that was just the opening offer.

Dealer with the 2011 made me an offer I couldn't refuse, so it's sitting in my garage. Drove it up from NC to PA - tons of attention, but that was expected. One kid probably took 20 pics on all sides of me. He was being fairly careful, so I wasn't too worried, but some idiot in Philly damn near rear-ended someone trying to ride up along side me to snap a pic. Not sure I agree with a few of the posts that the car is fine for GT use, as I was not feeling too well after my 8.5 hr drive, and I'm an athletic 5'10", 150lbs.
Car is awesome - will be a great car to share DD responsibilities with my other car. Looking forward to Spring and some top-down love.
