stolen car found/damaged/what should I look for???
Saw the car today. The body damage 'appears' very minor, all of it to the front fender. The drivers control arm is bent, the passenger seat will not recline.
Who knows what else has been damaged. There will be a full 'examination', by my dealer and apparently Audi.
I'm most upset by the mileage that has been put on it. I put on less than 300 miles. The thief put on over 1400 miles in 6 days!!! WTF.
It's clear to me the drivetrain has not been 'broken in' properly, plus I don't want a car back that has four times as many miles on it!! I only put around 3500 miles a year on my cars and my 10 day old car has near half that already!!
The insurance people are going to fight me, but I can't accept that car back.
Any suggestions?

Just tell them that, and you have an open and shut case!
manual trouble
Yeah, been through it all. Stated my case and said I would fight.
They are hoping Audi will do an ECU scan that will show my car was stolen by the worlds only contentious CRACKHEAD. He dutifully stole a car, but did not drive it like he stole it.
Stupid

I hope all the best for you. Buy out of state next time so no one at the dealership will have your info with your VIN. Thinking about it, I guess it would be pretty easy to replicate a key.
side note: My gf gave me her VIN and i went to my parts depo and had them order me up a key and fob. If they had a key, it HAD to be some kind of inside job...
Either way, best of luck man... Next time Lojack...
You are reading my mind. I said the ecu codes are meaningless, because they only have the illusion of being the whole story.
I paid extra for FULL REPLACEMENT value and as far as I can tell, they can't remove all those miles, nor can they PROVE the car was driven according to warranty. I don't have to prove its not, they have to prove it is b

Well if your in the market soon for another Audi I know a Audi Sales person out side of your state*
*me
Keys are ordered by VIN, Audi should be able to pinpoint which dealer and parts salesperson ordered the key. It's all downhill from there...
If the insurance doesnt take the car then start talking to a lawyer, and nail the dealer that sold the keys too. Because they didn't sell the key to the thief/accomplice then none of this would have happened.

Never had this happen before or heard of such a thing but I don't see any insurance company taking the car back due to minor physical damage. If you can prove some sort internal damage you may have a chance but at most they may give you a few hundred bucks for the mileage.
the actual LOSS
At worst I want them to pay the loss on trading it in for a new TT RS, because that IS the loss. Can't argue against the market. When a car as rare as mine, sells for less than it should. That is the LOSS.
I took my car to a repair shop to get an oil pan fixed (first lowered car). While the car was at the shop, the idiots left my car on the side of the shop and left the my key on the top of the dash with all the doors unlocked. Well some kid riding a bike saw it and decided he wanted my car. Reason why we know it was a kid on his bike cause he left his bike.
Well in WA it's considered a total loss if not found in 30 days. Well it was day 29 and the car was found. :face palm: Well I keep my car interior and exterior a 10/10. When the car was found it looks like someone was living out of the car for the last month.
Well insurance told me it was still able to be fixed (as my car was leaking oil as why it was at the shop) and car was found with very little oil in the car. Also the car was a manual and the insurance company said again they will have a BMW dealership check out the engine and make sure it was good. And they did have it looked at by BMW. I refused to take the car back because I didn't feel comfortable taking a car that has been out of my possession for about a month with some random person who may or may not even know how to drive a clutch. Insurance tried to tell me the clutch was fine. I just laughed. They told me they wouldn't fix it and said if there was an issue there wouldn't be a way to tell if the robber or myself made the clutch bad. I said your right this is why I am not accepting the car. After battling for weeks, they finally agreed to oral the car out.
After that my insurance company went after the shop for negligence... That is another story in itself...
Whereabouts are you in the west end (PM if you want). I'm in Oakville. If you ever need any VAGCOM programming done to the car just let me know.
Cheers
p.s. any thoughts about having a mod add this posting to your 'car stolen after 12 days' thread? Would have been a nice resolution to that story for those who read it.
