Great choice near the top of my list for new cars I want. Solid chassis, great interior and that V8TT seems like one fantastic engine!

The s4 however did feel and handle better, when you throw the s4 into a corner or bend the way everything feels is different. Very tight and tossable, the s6 can do it too, but doesn't feel razor sharp like the s4. My wife and I have a 6 month old now so we both got larger cars now as we needed more room. The s4, with a rear facing child seat, the front seat has to be put all the way forward basically making it useless.
Thanks for the feedback! My S4 is currently tuned (APR Stage 2) and on KW coilovers among other things, so I'm sure the handling will be a bit of take... But these days between work and the family (5 year old and trying for another), I don't remember the last time I had a chance to really drive the S4 through twisty roads.

We also have an SUV, so it isn't a pressing issue for me to get a larger vehicle, but there's just something about the S6 I'm drawn to (or an E63 wagon). I'm looking more for a nice grand tourer that I can lower on some 20" HREs/Adv.1 wheels, tune, exhaust, and I'm done. My only concern is fitting it in the garage next to the SUV, as it's a fairly narrow garage...

Is your S6 Ibis or Glacier White?

its glacier white, kinda like audi's version of pearl white. i bought a 958 cayenne S in may, my 2 garage on one side isnt that wide either they both fit fine. problem with the s4 was with a child seat in the rear the front seat is pretty useless unless ur a midget or child, my other cars are 2 coupes and a roadster which which cant be used for anything other than me and one passenger, so i guess it was just my way of justifying another "family" car that we both can drive. sell ur s4 and do it, u'll be suprised at how well they held up their value.

I think I'll be looking for a Glacier White S6. Ideally I want a color more akin to Quartz Grey, but the only grey offered for the S6 is a bit too dark for my tastes (unless I special order the color).

I have ~1 year left on my lease, and I'm more inclined to wait until the 2014 model year (I try to avoid buying a first model year). But unless something else comes out that radically alters my thinking, I'll be ordering an S6 around this time next year...

I kid you not this and the new S8 are a lot of fun on the track. Recently went to an Audi club event where there was an S6 S7 and an S8 and lets just say they were pretty tough to pass @ VIR.

i currently have a bm and mb also, im not brand bias and enjoy alot of different makes. was looking at e63 and cls, reason i didnt pick the e class is that the w212 is looking dated now as that chasis has been out awhile i think theyre prob going to refresh it soon as it was one of the first models to change. the new w218 cls is a really nice looking car and i was really considering getting one, but my wife and i decided a four seater is prob not the best choice with a baby. i also looked at the f10 m5 but with that oil pump failure recall and the car being 20-30k more i ended up getting another audi, i also like quattro very much, being able to drive 80-100 mph in the rain and the car feeling planted loke its not raining is always a plus. value wise the s6 won out, has the nicest interior, i really like the recaro seats and diamond waffle stitching, a good engine, is cheaper than the mb or bm counter parts while delivering 80-90% of the speed i want, also the tech in the s6 is the best out of all of them. the car even has wifi if needed.

Thanks for response Mike, everything you said it is kinda behind my thought process. The CLS63 is a beast in a straight line, but I rarely use the power anymore. S6 seems like a better fit for my needs currently, the S8 is tempting but it's 40k more and although it has more power, it's got the automatic tranny.

Audi finally did right by the S6 in the states, it's got a great motor and a proper transmission. Nice choice! How do you think the S6 will hold up vs a tuned S4?

I'm curious what the tuners will get out of the S6 motor, I'm thinking close to 500crank.

2013 S6 and S8 are the new benchmarks.

S8 is so amazing in person.

In a very short video on Audizine.com, a former S4 owner's APR Stage II (tune + pulley) S4 was pretty much even with his new (stock) S6 in a drag race. So the potential, once tuned, will be pretty good...

Congrats MikeL

here's a similar one in Dubai, it's priced at USD 85,830. I don't know how the pricing is over there.

There is no doubt the S6 is a huge step forward for Audi and is a fine car. However, I can tell you from lots of seat time in the S6 and the M5 that there is NO comparison between these cars. The M5 is in a completely different league. As it should be for the price difference. Never rely on the for profit magazines to make decisions or assumptions.
