picked up 13' S6
There is no doubt the S6 is a huge step forward for Audi and is a fine car. However, I can tell you from lots of seat time in the S6 and the M5 that there is NO comparison between these cars. The M5 is in a completely different league. As it should be for the price difference. Never rely on the for profit magazines to make decisions or assumptions.
Neo what color is your S8 coming up? Just curios as few of my buddies told me they are getting black ones. Quite a different selection that the usual whiteness of the lately ordered Audi's here.
Black as well.. always had black or gray cars, but when you shine up a black car, nothing looks like that. BTW, I was meaning to reach out and see any good possible wheels would fit the S8... thinking satin black inner and gloss black lip.
I think I'll be looking for a Glacier White S6. Ideally I want a color more akin to Quartz Grey, but the only grey offered for the S6 is a bit too dark for my tastes (unless I special order the color).
I have ~1 year left on my lease, and I'm more inclined to wait until the 2014 model year (I try to avoid buying a first model year). But unless something else comes out that radically alters my thinking, I'll be ordering an S6 around this time next year...

M5 reminds me of my rwd 5.0 mustang back in 89. Its all about roasting rear tires sideways with traction control off. A brz will do it to at way less kill ya speeds and cost.
For the 99% of the time that you commute, the S6 really is in a different league too, but for daily driving. I drove the M5 and just didn't get it. Not sporty enough to be a panamera, yet not civilized enough to compete with S6. I am guessing the target market is one that wants to stay with the bmw brand, and the M5 is a better pick over the 750i? I know many that test drove and picked something else though.
I think had the M5 been 10 to 15k less $ I would have settled on it. Waiting 5.5 months for an S8 has not been fun, when there were 12 M5's in inventory within driving distance of my house. (there are currently 11 in auto trader near me now, so at least they are available on no notice)

^^i rememer quartz gray was on the order form for the s6, because i asked my wife if we should get another quartz gray (s4 was qg) and her reply was get a white one. cant remember if it was a no/low cost color though, but i remember forsure it being on the paper my guy printed out for me. ceramic brake option has not yet made its way as an option on the 13's, that was one option i wanted but wasnt available. the standard brembos work great, but having little to brake dust is another reason i wanted it.
LOU, do u still have the B8 S4? or did u get rid of it for the s8? The S8 is an awesome car too, they had a black one when i got the 6. maybe next time around ill get a s8, im still relatively young and just started a family. i think i need at least another 3-5 years before ill look right driving the flagship audi. i already get enough bs from relatives, family etc for the cars i drive.

I sold my S4 end of September. I wanted the 6, but the initial car alotments were sold. The 8 was available, mostly because no real tests had been performed, and expectations were pretty low. Naturally demand has shifted large since the motortrend tests. I did chase down an M5 for about 2 months, but pricing was not good for me, being a first time buyer? Sometimes availability can make you pick the wrong car. I'm happy with how things turned out....the M5s are still on the lot for sale, with pricing now dropping. RS6 sean would be sweet.
Sent you a note earlier, don't know if you got it. Just send a PM and we'll talk setups.
