Interior LED Lights
Hello Everyone!
Where did everyone pick up the interior LED lights and does anyone have pictures/recommendations? I just picked up a 997.1 Turbo (2009), and wanted to swap those out.
Thanks in advance!

Bought my 2009-C2 a couple of months ago and the the previous owner really went bonkers with the LED theme. He changed ALL interior bulbs (including the glove box!) as well as the license plate, front side markers, frunk and engine bay lights.
Personally they look pretty "ricer" to me and even after giving them a couple of months to "maybe I'll get used to them"... they still look "ricer"! Maybe if the guy who bought them hadn't opted for 6500K bulbs then I wouldn't have as much an issue with them as I do.
But hey that's just my $.14 worth (that's $.02 cents adjusted for inflation). Besides it's too much of a hassle to change them all back.

Agree with the previous posts - don't go too cheap - you will be spending your time sending non working lights back for replacements..
Colour wise - it all depends on personal taste of course, the OEM bulbs are pretty yellow - (like all old style bulbs)
So if you want to move to OEM and keep the same colour - you need to look for very warm yellow LED - 2700K or so.
Moving from this to 6500K LEDS is a big change - that is a Cool xenon blue light - I have seen a lot of sites showing 6-6500K as white light but in a car - especially one with a dark interior, it looks more blue than pure white - pretty cool as well but also more blue than other OEM's are putting in new cars...
USP Motorsports lights for example are 6,000K - if you see the install video when they turn on the overhead light, you can see that is it more cool blue than pure white - the product is excellent and high quality. but blueish.
interestingly, the same temp range on rear number plate lights looks close to OEM... Go Figure.
my interior is cocoa - in a dark car it is highlighted - i reckon those with a lighter interior might not notice the difference so much - interestingly, lots of sellers selling 6000K lights show them in a cream interior.
Neutral bright White looking is more at the 4-4500K (5000 at max) range.
There are very few sellers who are retailing Car lights at this colour range...
Osram have recently started selling Car interior lights, they retail 4 colours:
Yellow - 2000K
Warm White - 4000K
Cold White - 6000K
Ice Blue - 6800K
I haven't used these yet (will be changing i think) but they offer a 5 year warranty and typical Osram quality
Another well respected German company is Hypercolor - they sell 3 colours:
Warm White - 3000K
Neutral white - 4000K
Cold white - 6500K
So after rambling on for a while... I guess all I am saying is that you need to buy quality and that a lot of the users who were disappointed in the colour of their lights bought lights that were far bluer than expected.
if you want the cold blue look - great, a lot of people like it - me included (my current lights are 6,000K)
good news is this colour temp is easy to source from severall excellent companies
If you want natural bright white light - like newer OEM's - go for 4-4500K
these are harder to find
good luck.

I went ebay route but not cheaper China route...Bought mine from a seller named something like phillipsxenon and based out of USA.
he's sold a ton so I used that as a marker. Best thing only like $30 for full set including engine bay vs some other vendors like at $80-90. Looks just like all expensive models and can never tell difference and not ricer either.

Thanks for all the great responses guys! I bought the plate lightening from USP motorsports and am trying to get the interior lights from hypercolor (the 4000k) - they're website has a few glitches for americans so I'm sorting it out.
Thanks again!

I too was looking up and down on the Internet for inexpensive 4000K interior LED's but without much success. Only found individual T10 & Festoon pieces on ebay which I am not sure if it will fit length-wise (the T10 is 27mm long and Festoon is 42mm long), these have color temp of 4000K-5000K. Would appreciate your feedback on those hypercolor 4000K to see if they look natural enough.

Haha I didn't want to say anything since I'm new here and my main question was about lights.
Still no word from the German about the 4000k lights so will keep everyone updated.

I have a 2006 997.1 and does anyone know if I really need CANBUS LED bulb for the interior ? My gut is telling me no but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.
I can understand the need for CANBUS for something like a license plate bulb but not for interior.
I found a pretty good & inexpensive source for LED, might give them a try.
