thank you, good resource. But do you know what bulb would replace the two bulbs in the vanity lights? That website doesn't list those as an option.

People have had good success with the USP and Maxspeed kits. I thought they were really overpriced. So I went to a couple of eBay sellers. Tried a few, including some can bus ones for indicator lights.
The results of the research? The stuff looks the same, but it's not. The stuff works, but burns out quickly. Had a couple in the dome light, burned themselves up! Many of the bulbs in our cars are a bit tricky to install, so it really sucks when they burn out in a month. I gave up and haven't messed with them in a while. If you want to go LED, I recommend one of the expensive kits, the cheap stuff is garbage and it is so difficult to tell the difference. I think all the stuff is made in China, so I don't know why you can't get quality ones from China too.

ECS Tuning Ziza Light kit

I got the Ziza interior LED kit and license plate LED's from ECS Tuning. The kit was complete and had very good instructions on replacing all the interior lights. Watch the glove compartment because it is different from the others.

Makes a huge difference and takes less than an hour to do it all.

I suggest a plastic trim tool removal tool to make removal easier and not leave marks.

If you're going DIY, these guys sell 4k festoons and wedge interior lights for the 997.

Hello everyone! Installed my lights (4000) from osram. Look gorgeous, super brigh, but not too white. Next mods (kinda) xpel, tint, fogs, gt2 spoiler bolt-on. Name: image-877195837.jpg

4K bulbs fitted into the main and map lights
looks for me perfect - pure white light, no yellow and no hint of blue. so if you want White - 4K is pretty great.
footwell lights to do. think I will leave the rest with the 6K bulbs - rarely seen and used so I don't care.

Vanity lights are still yellow...I ordered the following and will give them a try when they arrive.:

will post pics when done.

The yellow tint to the OEM vanity lights provide a more favorable hue that the bright LED when someone is actually using the vanity lights - ask your wife or girlfriend which they prefer.

LOL - not something I am worried about!

My wife is in the car maybe 10% of the time and if she notices that the lights have gone from yellow to white I will be amazed - plus screamed at for spending money on "more stupid lights" for my car :-)

Its a good point but, Most OEM cars these days put 4K white led's in the vanity mirrors - it just does not look consistent to have a different colour (I know I will eventually change all of the remaining 6K to 4K bulbs because my OCD like tendencies will force me to....)

I was ordering LED for my STi from a recommended ebay vendor and thought I ask if he has pure white (4000K) 42mm-8smd and T10-5smd for my 997. He said he has some and wanted $6 for (3x) 42mm-8smd and (7x) T10-5smd so I said why not and have him ship them with my STi kit to save some shipping cost.

Well these $6 LED arrived today and here's a before and after pic

So far no code or warning light on the dash and I'll see how long they last but at $6 compared to $90, they will have to burn out 15 times The vendor I order these LED from is yitamotor

LEDs are easy to install anywhere in the cabin, so they can be used in unlimited quantities. This lighting solution will completely transform your car. In addition, the versatility of LEDs allows you to use different colors, including mixed ones. You can start by replacing the incandescent bulbs in the instrument lighting, the effect is noticeable immediately after installation is completed. If this is not enough for you, you can install the illumination of the gear lever, pedals, buttons, door pockets, handles and even floor mats. In a word, in this case, there are no restrictions, and all that is needed is fantasy and the desire to make your car exclusive. To decorate the interior lighting or tuning the bottom of the car, they often use LED strips for cars that I bought at https://lightingandsupplies.com/specialty/hazardous-location-lights/.
