RS4 or RS5 - Which one?
RS4 or RS5 - Which one?
Hi all,
Hubby wants a new car and is looking to purchase his first RS Audi.
Decision has come down to a 2013 RS4 Avant or 2013 RS5.
Practicality is not really a consideration for us and the price difference between the 2 once you have optioned them up is nominal.
Cars are near identical except for body shape and we love the look of both of them. Hard to tell which looks more exclusive.
Sure the RS5 is one up the Audi food chain, but will its resale value be better than this reason?
So what do you guys think? Which would you rather own and why?
One a side note, we are not sure if we should consider the ceramic brakes. Car is not likely to see track days so again, what do you think, given their cost?
Cheers.

RS5 . I'd be considering a used R8 if I was already shopping in that price range. Some ceramics perform horribly when cold. I'd test drive something with them first. If the car isn't being tracked it's hard to justify it. I have heard about bad brake fade on the TTRS and RS5 when driven hard though. I guess it depends on how vigorously you drive.
If you don't need a wagon then go RS5. In the porsche world we usually like the ceramic brakes for the street over track as they don't dust but I don't think that cost is worth a little saving some wheel cleaning.
Thanks for the advice guys.
Now beginning to lean towards the RS4 Avant.
Initially we were thinking RS5 because its higher up the Audi food chain and the MSRP price difference between the two is very little (in fact, I think we could probably get into a new RS5 for less than an RS4 as people who wanted the RS5 now have one), but RS4 Avant's are what RS cars are all about and for this reason we suspect that it will have more Audi street cred and therefore better resale value. Also, the fact that it's a newer model and therefore more in demand here is cool too
