Anyone have the latest copy of Car & Driver? The RS hardly beats the C55 and M3 in straight line performance. I wonder how the car will track?

I absolutly love the looks, inside and out, but 80 grand for a car that cannot outperform a 55,000 M3 is just sad.

 

Unfortunately, we (the US) won't get the interior that you've seen in pictures. We don't get the trick seats, we don't get the trick steering wheel and we don't get the gimmicky, but still pretty trick, starter button on the center console...

Nope. We don't get any of it. The seats don't meet our airbag requirements, so they're replacing them with the standard S4 Recaros, nice but not half as cool. The steering wheel supposedly doesn't meet crash testing requirements for passengers not wearing a seat belt... even though the Gallardo comes with THE SAME flat bottom steering wheel here in the States. ...and, of course, we Americans have to have those cupholders in the center console, so we get a special "American" center console that replaces the starter with cup holders
...sweet I can drink my coffee while shifting and standing on the throttle of a 420HP vehicle...

 

I'm first on my dealers list, but don't know if I'll get one or not.

yeah, but an rs4 would crush a carrera. with 3 passengers and a trunk of groceries.

 

I'm on the list too and a big fan of the car, but to say that the RS4 would "crush" a Carrera is a bit of an overstatement, IMO.

 

What ever the price will be 70 or 80 the car will be plenty fast and plenty worth it, It will be one of the most versitile and fast 4 doors out there,. period..

You can sit here and you can by this that or the other, but when it comes down to it the audi is the only car in its class that has all its features.
And besides you wont end being like everyone else driving and M3, M5 , Benz or other ..

Its the ultimate wolf in sheep clothing.........

 

Yes and a Rs4 will crush a carrera you can bet on that...

Am i'm sure those who are interested will be able to swap out for the euro wheel, center console, and seats from one of our favorite aftermarket importers/ vendors etc.

 

wait, do you have an order guide? I thought MSRP was 65k, which still needs to be justified.

the rs4 has bigger brakes, better suspension, DSG AND 100+ more HP than the S4. Full wolf in sheeps clothing. If they'd only bring the avant (wagon) version here....

so, stock carrera (not s, etc) should be crushed by an RS4. My guess would be the times should be near or better than the M3 CSL (27th).

 

I wonder why in magazines, they don't pair up the RS4 in comparos with the CSL? Is it not in production anymore?

 

RS4 won't have DSG. Not yet anyway.

 

RS4 is ~80hp more than S4, no DSG will be available on the B7 RS4. Weight is a little less than the B7 S4, also, though.

 

Not sure if this is a repost, but I saw it on the benz site and thought it was worth posting to this thread. It's supposedly the OEM exhaust on the new RS4.
