Just spoke with a rep in the bay area. Less than two months away from hitting showrooms. MSRP ~80k, also one of my dealer contacts also said they would not be marking up their alotment, and already have the first two spoken for.

he's telling me it will pull on the current M3 in 6th gear, not bad considering the weight difference if true.

I agree 80k seems rediculous...but looking where the new M5 is priced, im sure the RS6 will be in the same league making 80 seem much more reasonable.

Don't get me wrong tho, im all for this one being priced under 65k which seems much more befitting of a top of the line A4

even 75 sounds more reasonable. But this car is going to have one of the most amazing engines Audi has ever built. I hope they ship to Canada. (Not that I could afford one...)

The earliest for ANY allotment....May-June 06.
Your CA dealer might have some "special" inside scoop. Doubtful though. Do you have $ down on one?

LUIS95993 ... nope I'm not going to be picking one up new unless the company I work for wants to lease one for me. I would rather wait for a reasonably priced CPO'd one a yr or two down the road.

For now I'm just looking forward to the extended test drive which was promised

The RS4 won't be in the US until spring 2006. I've got the first RS4 coming to my dealer and they won't even take my deposit money yet. You're dealer might be referring to a limited number (250) special edition S4s that are slated for US shores only.

There's been a lot of talk about the price of this car on the Audi boards (VWvortex and Fourtitude). Unfortunately, with the prices of 2006 S4s pushing 65K in some cases the RS4 will almost certainly be 75K+. I agree that is a ton of money for an A4 series Audi, but you can thank the exchange rate, partially. It is a 420HP, AWD car with room for four... I do agree, however, that if the price gets too out of control, I'll walk across the street and visit the Porsche dealer about a C4S...

For 80k, the Audi dealers in this area better get their service departments in order - Audi has some of the worst customer service of any make.
