Audi S4 ESP / Traction control question

Audi S4 ESP / Traction control question
I was reading in some Audi forums that you cannot disable completely all the electronic aides on Audis, specifically asking about the S4 2011-current.
Even if you turn the ESP and ASR completely off, something called EDL is still on? Is that true, no way to turn everything off?
I'm asking because if I had that car and lived in a place where it snows (being quattro), it would be nice to drive on the snow in some empty place with ALL electronic stability/traction systems off... Especially with the rear "sport" diff option.
Actually if I couldn't do that I would probably not buy the car.

Go drive the S4 I doubt you'll be disappointed it's a hell of a car the new 3.0T with all the updates walks the competition imo. 335 isn't even remotely in the same league interior, handling, etc. And it's very useable all year round. The 13 S4 w/ Stronic I had went 12.76@107 bone stock lots of bang for buck.
What cars are you cross shopping?

You can turn off almost everything, if you have sport diff your car will get sideways much easier than a non-sport diff car. You can turn off ESP/Traction and it will feel like almost everything is off. There really is very minimal intrusion from the car limiting your power with ESP/Trac off. Had a 13 S4.

Can you elaborate what stays on and how you feel it when driving? Can you maintain a powerslide when you press ESP off on the S4?
The 335 is M-Sport and Stage 2, very fast and handle awesome.
What I miss is having AWD and a limited slip diff (had an STI and 996TT). Also, since I drove BMW's DCT double clutch in the M3 I'm sold with the double clutch transmission. Never thought I would prefer it to a manual but I do.
Going to drive the S4 this weekend. When I went to see the GTR, I was shocked by how bad the Bose sound system is compared to the Harman Kardon Logic7 in my BMW.
All double clutch:
2013 S4, 2013 M3 coupe. If I will be able, a 997.2TT or a GTR.

Thanks for the info, you "had" a 2013 S4? You didn't have it for too long!

It's not as tail happy as an 996TT or STI but you can definitely get it around. Had the 13 for a little while ended up having to put some money into the business so had to get rid of it sadly.
I have lots of friends with 335s and M3s I find the S4 a much better car than the 335 overall tuning wise they are close. The Stronic transmission is much better in the S4 than the 335, almost just a touch slower than a 458 trans which is impressive.
The interior blows the 335 out of the water imo it's not even comparable, even the M3 interior isn't as nice as the S4. Sound system is much better in the S4 especially if you are getting B&O it literally blows any OEM sound system out of the water and the MMI (multimedia system/idrive) is so much better interface then BMWs.
Sounds like I'm pitching the hell out of the S4 but really it's great car in it's class. Go drive the S4 I'm sure you will love it, nothing wrong with shopping around Was actually looking to get into a 996TT after my S4 if it wasn't for the business.
Go drive all the cars you mentioned and get whatever emotionally stirs you the best can never go wrong with that lol! Definitely hard to pass on a 997TT/GTR if you don't need the extra 2 seats

I'll update after I go test drive! Usually the test drives are too short to actually know, at least I'll get some idea.
I did test drive a 2012 S4 and drove a 2013 M3 (for a week) this past year. One thing I remember from the S4 is the addictive noise every time you upshift, and from the M3 is how sharp the car is and the scream and responsiveness of the engine.
A 997TT will be amazing, but right now to find a nice low mileage one with PDK is well above $100k…
Honestly, many times I regret selling my 996TT. Amazing car in every way, and more reliable than my BMW.
