wow to the RS4

go to drive one today at the streets of tomorrow event.

WOW

Now, I know I'm an audi guy anyways, but I was really impressed with it. Hit the sport mode and the exhaust opens up to a crack-like addicting sound and it just takes off. There wasn't too much down at the bottom, but once 3500 or so RPMs hit, it just takes off all the way up to the 8000rpm redline.

yeah, pretty much.
at ours they had 12 Q7's, 2 RS4's, and a bunch of A3, A6, A4's, etc available to drive. Get there early because the waiting list for the RS4 drive was about 3 hrs. I put my group's names in and then went home for a couple hours. They had great catering, a $70k B&O home theatre setup, and an S8 to sit in / check out, a bunch of Q7's setup and even an R8 (or R10, I didn't get a chance to check it out).

I think it was just to try and keep people to go when they're supposed to.
The Q7 didn't have a long wait at all (which is the main focus of the event), the RS4 is just such a "hot" car that everyone wanted to drive and there was only 2 of them. Maybe they'll have it sorted out better for your event since this was the first one.

I got to drive one again this morning and I'm amazed. Yesterday's drive was like a sunday jaunt with the wife and kids compared to todays. We had a different concierge / whatever who basically said do whatever you want, and we did. It flies, while being well mannered and predictible.

So, a friend (mike - salespunk on 6speed) and I went back today to get a shot at the RS4. My experience yesterday was cool, but really mellow. Dumb drivers and traffic stopped us from really getting to check the car out.

We had talked last night about getting there first thing and I sure am glad that we did. He got there at 7:59 and put his name on the list in the 4th position (45 min wait). I was there a few minutes before 8:15 and I was around 20, with a 4 HOUR wait time. I had planned to just come back later and drive, so we hung out at the event, ate some breakfast and checked out the amazing S8 again. We decided that my GF and I would just roll along with him and his drive since it was there. His name was called and we hopped into the car. The concerige guy was really nice, somewhat local and young.

After a couple awe-insprining miles, he was heading back to the resort and pulled over to see if I wanted to drive. Not being stupid for one of the few times in my life, I agreed and hopped into the drivers seat. Wow. I can't even explain my drive yesterday to todays. Yesterday was like hauling the family to church with all the stupid drivers and traffic that we had to deal with compared to todays. I won't give specifics (unless you want to PM me), but we'll say that the car hauls ***, handles amazing at speed and is just a crazy car in general (although we all knew that anyways). I was on the fence before, but now even with them not offering an Avant (which I'd already have an order in for if you're reading AoA) it's pretty damn tempting to buy. The car's everything and more. I honestly couldn't think of a single flaw with it, which is rare with my picky ***. I don't even mind the grille on it and I'm not exactly fond of that thing.

a pic of us on the way out to the best car ride / drive I've ever had (and I've driven with drifter / rally driver Rhys Millen)

Faces censored to protect the innocent

(on a side note, they really should have these events in stadium parking lots. That way people get to test the car out the way they'd like to and not drive in ways on normal streets that might be frowned upon by some)

no
no steering wheel (although they can be ordered)
no start button (you know how we need 17 cupholders here
no seats (again, they can be ordered but they're a cool $13K!)
maybe that's how they kept the price down though ?

If they were bringing the avant, I would have put my order in 2-3 months ago. I don't know how into the sedan I am. I like it, I love it, but I just really like the functionality and design of the avant!

13K for the seats is redicolous. What about the steeringwheel? You gotta have that.
