I was extremely privileged to be an invited Audi guest for the Press opening day of the Detroit Auto Show. Discussed the R8 with one of the design tech's delving into the R-Tronic as well as discussing the lighting with the lighting Design engineer. I had the opportunity to observe the world premier press release of the Q7 V-12 TDI. Had both breakfast and a superb lunch in the Audi pavilion on top of the display. I was invited to set in and play with the R8 (inside a glass enclosure) and felt far more important than I really am. My impression of the R8, SIMPLY AWESOME. I was assured that my R8 will be one of the first delivered in the US and I will have a difficulty waiting. But good things are always worth waiting for! Attached slideshow for your enjoyment.

Hey John whats up. The Gt3 came in. It is amazing. Ill hook u up w/ a ride sometime.

 

UNFORTUNATELY, the US will not likely get the ceramic brakes. Audi is still nervous because of the Porsche problems on the Generation 1 Ceramics. I diligently tried to make a case, citing my positive experience with the Generation 2 ceramic brakes on my 2005 996 Turbo "S". My conversation was at the highest level there is with AoA. I am going to follow up my meeting with an email and make a case for ceramics in the US.

 

I am really sorry that I missed your delivery. I was sick and almost came anyway, however my wife intervened and intelligent heads prevailed, LOL! I am up for the GT3 ride anytime you are open. Thanks for remembering!

 

I have got to say, the car is nothing short of stunning inside and out, just wished it were actually "fast" lol, i guess im just spoiled :/

 

so many temptations in life I am starting to like the idea of this car in my garage.

 

I've yet to see any actual figures of performance? Rough ideas on acceleration, top speed, base price, etc? Maybe i'm just stupid and can't find it anywhere.

You gotta admit, its a fine looking automobile.

did the audi reps say anthing about the R8 supply/demand?

 

It will be really tough to get one. I was just visiting my dealer today and they have 3 orders and no allocations yet. And they are probably one of, if not, the biggest dealers in NE (inskip).
