audi on the track

I'm curious as to how my S4 would do on the track. While it certainly handles great on the street, it's awfully heavy. For those of you who have tracked your Audi's - any comments? Thanks.

Not mine, but I have had several opportunities to take my neighbor's '05 S4 around various tracks.

All in all, it does fairly well, but the weight is there...and I am not a big fan of the Quattro feeling versus my much lighter 996...it could be driver preference, but I just can't change the 996 or early 911 driving habits to work with the S4.

For reference, his is stock with the exception of H&R Coil Overs and BBS RGRs.

Our S4 comp did pretty good. This was the car that Derek Bell drove for Champion in Speed GT a few years ago

I tracked my 05 when it was stock once and then put r-comps, sways, full milltek, and stoptechs for the second run. The difference was amazing. The B6/B7 is a heavy car but with better brakes and more sway added with r-comps it gets around the track pretty well. Its a fun car to learn in as it has pretty decent response but aided with quattro so you wont get too out of control.

I would love to take a couple of laps in that Comp S4. I loved watching Derick rip it up in that S4 on Speed.

Although the car is heavy to begin with,a few brake and suspension mods can bring you a decent driving experience on the track.

IMO replacing the mid diff to send more power to the rear can make it much more enjoyable in the track or any demanding environment. And it's not very expensive either.

It really is like throwing a brick around the track, but it can still be fun...and fun is really the objective when tracking non-comp.

My B6 did 9.12 on the ring

Then again, it was my 3rd lap... ever.

You'll enjoy your S4 on the track. While it is heavy and will push some, it's still a good track car and AWD makes for a good experience. I can't comment on the B6/B7 chassis but from what I'm told it a great setup. My B5 is a blast at the track!! Just go have fun!

Thanks guys. I got bitten by the track bug this year and have been taking my p-car to PCA driver's ed events. Do any of you guys go to Audi D.E. events in the Northeast? I'd like to give it a try.
