Sorry, but if there is an M and 3 next to each other, that is the car for me over its competitors no matter how watered down it is.. RS4 is awesome, but the M3 even being a little "softer" and heavy i'm sure will still be so thrilling/rewarding to drive, time will tell!

RS4 over M3 ANYDAY.

i base that on exterior/interior looks only.... seeing as i haven't ridden in either.

I'm sure the BMW-only guys will **** and moan, and the Audi guys will gloat.

Personally, I love my RS4, but I think the M3 will be great as well. What surprised me most on that test is that the RS4 only weighs 5kg more, but has AWD and 30NM of torque more. Interesting read...

The car I'm more interested in testing out is the C63 AMG.

Definitely RS4 for me. It's a sedan and still holds its own. Not too mention it looks better with a nicer interior. M3 is impressive technologically though, a v8 that weighs 33lbs. Less than the six it replaced...amazing.

sure.

E92 M3 - 1655kg (about 3640lbs) (from BMW international catalogue)
B7 RS 4 - 1650kg (about 3630lbs) (from Audi UK)

both are what is called "unladen weight"..

why such a huge difference? anyone care to explain?

i just checked Audi USA and Unladen weight is listed as 3,957 lbs which is very different than the euro example of (if i do the conversion right) 1650 kg = 3630 lbs.

now the more curious fact is that the european m3 is listed as 1655 kg = 3641 lbs. and from what i have seen everywhere (including car and driver) the USA version m3 will indeed weigh that much.

what gives?

btw, here is the article that car and driver did on the m3: http://www.caranddriver.com/previews...08-bmw-m3.html
