Wanted: 06 Evo Ix

Must be GSR or RS, no MR's and I won't even consider one As for the GSR's, I'll consider SSL or SE. Thanks and let me know if anyone is interested in selling. Funds are ready to go

H Bomb- The MR is a great car if your not planning on going drag racing, etc. If your buying it and leaving it mild, it's great. But the 6 speed is very weak at high HP levels. The MR comes with nicer wheels, guages, aluminum roof, vortex generators and few other nice things. They are great, but if you are racing the car almost every item is swapped and you've paid extra for no reason. Not to mention you'll be limited by the 6 speed. If you have any more questions about these cars let me know. I've had three and am very familar with them. They are great cars....

cool thanks so much for the info. i heard the 6 speed wasn't as reliable but then found out later it was fine stock or somewhat stock.

i was looking to get one to make a daily driver kinda the do it all car since it is awd and still fast as hell. i prob wouldn't mod it much just maybe the usual intake, exhaust setup etc.

do you think the 6 speed would make better for highway cruising??

i am with you on the 06 i don't like the new one whatsover

thanks again

Interesting. I had an '03 as a daily driver. On the interstate, I hated no cruise control and no 6th gear. I guess I would have felt differently if I had modded the car.

I am also looking for a EVO.
The forum that was mentioned is very good and has a lot of good cars for sale as well.

I am looking to buy or build it with around 450 whp.
Does anyone know how reliable they are with the stock Block?

Thanks,
Dan

450 is kind of easy, basic bolt ones & a new turbo. The internals are good for a little more, most people don't start having issues till 500+whp. The fuel system will be the issue with that much hp.

Bone stock so far it has been the most reliable car that I have ever owned. MIne has basic bolt ons, & does 300whp for about $2000 invested. But I have an 05, that is kind of a 8.5 EVO, since it has the bigger turbo, LSD, ECD, and some of the other EVO 9 stuff, just not the adjustable cams. It's known to be better then the early 03's, the trans issues are worked out, & the clutches seam to last longer.

My complaints are no cruise control, & a very harsh ride for a stock car, both my other cars ride smoother with aftermarket suspension. The car has *****, & turns in like no other.

I am in Georgia right now and just picked up an 06 IX RS The stock block is very reliable and will support everything you can throw at it. If there is any interest on the best mod path just pm me. This is my fourth evo and the IX's are awesome. Intake, exhaust, intercooler pipe, and ecu flash will get you close to 400whp and cams and intercooler a little more. Throw a 20G($900) FP green on there and you have a 10.8@128 ish car. Gotta love turbos. Just for reference, my other IX with flash, upper I/C pipe, and exhaust went 11.56@118 every pass $1700 woth of mods. I'll keep everyone updated. It was fun getting back into an evo today. I'll be back in Florida on Monday and will hit the scales and track next week. Should be a fun journey......
