almost $4k off of my asking price. to me that was a bit low. it simply irritated me, rmani called me on it and i agreed that perhaps my tone/attitude was a bit tough.

i am sure i am not the only one who has tried to sell a car here that has gotten upset at a low initial offer.

You're asking WAAAAY over MSRP.. Lowballs go with the territory.

I'm regretting getting my deposit back now, after seeing the premium these little suckers are going for.

perhaps but b/c of the customers that don't want to wait on the dealer for 9-18 months warrant such a price. i think lowering my asking price to $20,350 is fair.

why did you get your deposit back? i've heard alot of people grew tired of the wait. what was your reservation #? any idea when your number would have come up?

I dunno.. I had the intentions of making the Smart Car a promotional vehicle for my business, with a full vinyl wrap and the works. But when it came time to spec out my car, I just had a change of heart, and opted to get my deposit back. Hindsight is 20/20.

I don't even know what my reservation # was, but I believe the dealer said I would have taken delivery of my car this month if I had kept my spot.

Good luck with the sale!

thanks man!

This is THE best promotional vehicle available right now. There is nothing on the road that gets more positive attention than a Smart. I have seen only one on the road so far- about 12 people were standing around it staring into the windows. Green is in.

Funny, just 8 years ago the promotional vehicle of choice was the H1 Hummer!

To go a little more offtopic:

The fact that these smarts only were used fore promo-cars, lead to their own downfall... Once those customers found a new promo-car, smart loses their sales

Ironically, we were stopped at a light tonight and a bright yellow Smart Car drove past us, advertising "Apollo Pizza". Me and about 10 other people craned our necks to look at this guy as he drove past.

I have no idea where this pizza place is, but the car did it's job - Now that name is firmly embedded into my memory!

The wife kept screaming, "I wouldn't be caught dead riding in that thing", but all I kept thinking of was the amount of publicity that place was probably getting..

Put it on ebay... Someone will bite... I sold mine on ebay and did very well...

BTW: There are plenty of smarts coming up as orphans... I was offered two by local dealer in the last few weeks alone...

Does the color of the car matter if you were going to get it wrapped with an ad? Is white the best? What about silver?

Now that's a CRAZY wrap. Impressive, but it actually detracts from the look of the Smart car..
