1997 Ferrari 355 Challenge Car F/S
1997 Ferrari 355 Challenge Car F/S
2-owner car with fewer than 10K miles. Rossa Corsa with dual white stripes (Ducati Corse scheme) and white wheels. Good condition.
Car is a factory-built Challenge car, sold new by an authorized Ferrari dealer to the first owner, who raced it in a limited number of the ’98 Challenge races and then sold the car to the present owner in ’99. We raced the car in only 2 Challenge races in the ’99 – ’00 years and retired the car to Club events at that point. Has been maintained by the same authorized Ferrari dealer from new. Currently still conforms to Challenge regulations except for Tubi GT exhaust and headers. Gearbox rebuilt 12/08.
Asking $50K. Price includes 2 additional sets of Challenge Speedlines with slicks and rains. Car is currently located at the dealer in the mid-Atlantic region.

Thanks for all the questions. Answered in order...
The car is not street legal, nor can it be made street legal. It does not have a title and is only offered on a bill of sale. I will post additional pictures, but please be patient. I am not on site.
Yes, it is at Ferrari of Washington. It should be there now, but to be sure, please call ahead and ask for Arnie Poundstone. The car is stored in our race trailer, and as the cars are being prepped for Targa 66 in 2 weeks, everything should be at FoW as I type this.
The motor has not been rebuilt. I will ask our crew chief to compute the hours on the motor. If I were still racing it, I would likely do a top-end rebuild, but given that we're upgrading, and the car is only eligible for SCCA ITE (with a different cage) and the burgeoning ex-Challenge car series, I'm not planning on doing it. I should say that lap times have been highly consistent with this car and haven't fallen off much (if at all), and it has been extremely reliable (which is good to know when you get to the track). As far as how many hours to rebuild goes, I would tell you that this is not a timed-out motor. So, the only reason to do the rebuild is a) if there's poor performance and it's manifesting in the lap times and/or relative to the competition or b) the compression and leak downs show issues. Our crew chief who has maintained this car from new has never once indicated a need to do a re-build. This car has really only ever needed fuel, oil and tires. I would plan on a re-build only if you're trying to get that last marginal second off your lap times. The 355C is a very drivable car, and would be perfect for someone who wants an easy-to-drive, affordable and easily maintainable track event car. The brakes are PHENOMENAL, btw. The car is very forgiving, and won't bite back as the 360Cs have when their aero-grip comes off. There are no additional spares. Just the wheels.

Not to jack this thread or anything, but what is going on with FOW? Has the dealer changed hands? If so will all the same employees be there to maintain the car - Ive heard great things about the techs, salesmen, etc...
No worries. FoW has been sold to a new dealer principal. It will remain where it is. There has been considerable turnover (mostly from the top-down), though, in the shop, sales department and administratively. Some think that the turn-over at the senior levels is a good thing. Time will tell. Unfortunately, many talented techs have moved on over the years, and this event is no exception. There remain a few key guys. If you're interested in discussing the issue privately, PM me.
BTW, still waiting on more pics and the outstanding answers. Will post as soon as I have them.
