Its actually not, I've seen a few nice examples go for 35-38k recently. Its pretty realistic actually with the market tanking and winter around the corner

I agree, under $40k is achievable especially if you're willing to buy a car with over 50k miles.

Keep in mind maintance is WAY more expensive than any other car in this price range. If you are buying a higher mileage car and plan on driving, I would allocate $2.5-3.5k annually for maintenance. Tires, brakes, clutch, etc.

i have access to manheim. plenty of cars going for under 40k with no where near that mileage. i'm just not seeing them for sale. maybe i'll have to send a dealer to bid on a car...i just hate paying sales tax.....

Smile Manheim TT

What is the reality of getting a TT from an auction? Seems like it would be rare. Also, the history and service records are often absent. Would it be better to buy private or go thru a broker to find an auction car?
I don't know the answer, just askin everyone

If I was buying a used car, say a 996TT, I would certainly look here first. Especially if it's coming from a member that's active here, and vouch-able (if that makes sense). Most of the cars for sale here by active member has been seen by others and that somewhat provides some history of the car.

Next place would probably be CPO with all records.

Goodluck to the OP, I hope you find your car.

I'm looking for the same - 6 spd, white/silver/blue/black (no red or yellow), lower miles, no stories, mods are more than welcomed.

Not wanting to pile on to someone elses thread, but I cannot create a new thread until I get some "time on the pond" = more than 100 posts.

Thanks, Dan.
