records?
These cars require a huge amount of maintenance and tuning to keep that engine running properly as it was basically a street legal race car. It might help your cause to post up the history of the car's service.

Not correct. My 2002 M5 has been a model of reliability, and ownership costs have been low to moderate through my years of ownership. That said, records would be something I would ask for with any purchase of a used car. Just don't want someone to get the idea that there is something inherently wrong or costly (i.e. engine removal at 30,000 miles for routine service a la some italian make(s)!) with the S62 engine.

I'll agree to disagree then. I love those cars, I really do. My BMW mechanic and tuner talked me out of buying one because of the required and expensive maintenance of that particular engine though. It is one opinion, but I trust him - he knows his ****.

And sorry for mucking up the OP's thread. I was just trying to suggest giving more details on the history of the car.

I'll agree with Winnipeg that my E39 M5 beast was one of the most reliable daily drivers I have ever owned. MUCH MORE than my E60 M5. I owned the 2002 E39 M5 for 5 1/2 years and put 66,000 miles on it. Loved every minute of it, and still miss that car.

if you are that desperate to increase your post count at least post in threads that are relevant, dont bump 3 year old for sale ads, that just confuses people looking for cars
